<p>Because I have to drive back and forth between college and high school like 4 times a day.</p>
<p>Today I bought my ACT prep books that my tutor wanted me to get. (Even though I HATE the ACT, apparently that’s what I’m better at. ■■■.)</p>

<p>That schedule looks simple to some of you, but keep in mind: My high school has 160 kids in 9-12 and it only offers 3 AP’s: Calc, Biology, and English. I’ll take Calc for sure, and maybe English. I have a 4.0 and I’m tied for 1st in my class. My class rank = 1/55.</p>
<p>As for colleges…I know I want to go into Architectural Engineering. There’s a small handful of colleges that teach that:</p>

<p>I live outside of philadelphia, and I just drove through Drexel’s campus earlier today. It’s pretty much right next to UPenn, and it’s a city school, obviously. I don’t know how to explain how it looks, it just looks like Philadelphia, lol.</p>
<p>The area isn’t super nice, but safety wise I think it’s definitely better than it used to be.</p>
<p>Also, do you guys think I have enough EC’s?
I’ll probably end up going to a state school, bc I don’t have amazing grades or anything, but w.e.</p>
<p>My EC’s are:</p>
<p>Field hockey (freshman team, then jv 10th grade, I’ll prob be JV junior year, and Varsity senior year.)
Yearbook (11th grade is the first time you can do it.)
Alex’s Lemonade Stand club (I don’t really do much for this at all though)
Homework Club (9th and 10th grade, will continue)
Track (only freshman year, NOT doing it again.)</p>
<p>And then I did some community service hours, but not a lot so it may not even be worth like counting unless I do more. (Which I probably will.)</p>
<p>I feel like I’m missing something; it doesn’t really seem like a lot to me though…</p>
<p>^You may think that you are missing some leadership positions in an EC that you’ll enjoy. Like will you be captain of Field Hockey senior year? Keep working on those hours, and maybe be a prez of a service club or something. Quality, not quanity, of the EC is what matters.</p>
<p>Thanks for your input! I may try and be a yearbook editor in chief sr. year, but besides that I don’t know of any other leadership position oppurtunities I’ll have.</p>

<p>^That’s great, shoot to be editor-in-chief! Don’t worry about field hockey, it still shows well-roundedness. Where do you volunteer? Maybe you can start a club next year raising funds for said cause. I’m doing that, starting club to raise money for medical clinic. Try running for school office or something like that. Really, anything that won’t bored you to death and you actually make an impact with will only help your resume. Let me know if you have more questions; Good luck! :)</p>
<p>I volunteer at my local public library (It sucks soo much though, so once I started this photography class, I haven’t been back. When I signed up they said I wouldn’t be shelving books, but that’s what I do 75% of the time. And it’s in the children’s section so all the shelves are lower, which makes it even worse.)</p>

<p>^Oh, that sucks, sorry to hear that! At my job, i do msotly clerical work, but I still need the hours (wasn’t exactly what I wanted, but I like it now). See if your library will sponsor a program for you to read to underpriveleged youths or something. Unless you don’t want to anything with the lying library haha! What’s your intended major, that can help direct your ECs?</p>
<p>See this is my issue, I literally have no idea. Lately I’ve been thinking about majoring in social work, because I want to do something that is beneficial to people. I don’t really know much about the career’s that would arise from that major though, or if I’d even like it though.</p>
<p>I think I have a good balance of EC’s though, in terms of community service oriented clubs, and a more school related club (yearbook), and then my sport.</p>
<p>I’m just wondering, (this stuff interests me) do you know what you want to major in?</p>
<p>^Yeah, I wan to major in biomedical engineering. I discovred it in 8th grade and decided that it bes fit my wants. </p>
<p>My ECs include: 2 basketball teams, aformentioned club, student government, medical volunteering, Church volunteering, Science Olympiad, Debate, drawing cars/inventing in my spare time, playing the clarinet, and hopefully mathletes next year.</p>
<p>I definitely won’t include most of those because I really care about 3 the most med/Church volunteering, bball, and inventing/cars. Sure, I like the other stuff, but that’s what’s important to me.</p>
<p>You do have a balance between in/out school activites, but think of it this way: What will the college gain from having you as a part of their ‘brand.’ What will you accomplish that’s beneficial to the school with their degree. From there, figure out where you’re holes/weak spots are. </p>
<p>Being a social worker is great, but how’s the job outlook? I really don’t know, so I;m not sure how that will translate into a job. Any service job is benefical to people, from delivery person, doctor, or restaurant worker. I would think if social work is truly what you like, then shape/mold your app around that. At least I’m doing that, and I hope that this works. Keep asking questions! :)</p>

<p>If you could major in anything you wanted, and be gauranteed a job after graduation/ a good salary, what would you pick? Would it be different than what you’re thinking about majoring in now?</p>
<p>For me, I think I would pick Creative Writing. I’m not exactly great at it, but I used to REALLY like it. I still do, I just don’t have the oppurtunity to do it as much (Teachers NEVER assign creative writing) and I don’t feel like I have an endless supply of ideas anymore, like I did when I was younger.</p>
<p>^ i would do something with fashion, its the one thing that will continue to interest me. the only thing that stops me from pursing it is the amount of money that comes with the types of jobs. lets face it, if you dont become some huge CEO of a fashion line, or famous designer, or editor-in-cheif at a fashion magazine, your not getting paid much.</p>
