***Official UW Class of 2021 Acceptance Thread***

@uwapplicant21 I had enrolled in a course at UW previously so I had “non matriculated” as my major on my transcript.

Do acceptances get released tonight?

Did anyone receive biology major acceptance in RD.

I am new to CC and hoping to get some insights on UW admission, specifically UW Bothell. Is this thread mostly about UW Seattle? My child applied to UW Bothell and have been told it is still under review. We live in the area where UWB is and my child turned in application in November. Just wondering if someone is having the same situation. Thanks.

On the unofficial transcript (online), I see “Computer Science” as my major, and my friend sees “Business Administration”. Does this mean DA?

if you signed up for the waitlist are you suppose to get an email or something? i’m kinda freaked out because i havent gotten any confirmation or other communication.

How competitive truly is business? Because I am intending to study it and have the option to attend Seattle U, and, given scholarships + grants, will walk out with very little debt. However, given the option, udub obviously has the superior program so that would be the preference. Just don’t want to commit to udub, get rejected from my major on multiple occasions and have to then transfer to seattle u and have it be significantly more expensive than if I had just attended there from the start. I didn’t really look into the competitive nature of getting into majors (seems a bit ridiculous to me that, according to posts here, kids with 3.8 GPA and good test scores can even get rejected), but now it’s really forcing me to think twice about attending UW

@IamINTP I called cause I was curious as well and they said they haven’t released any decisions for honors yet and that they will start to tomorrow.

^as for how we will be notified, I’m not sure. I never got an email from UW telling me the status of my application changed when I got my decision, I just randomly checked. So I’m guessing for honors, I’ll have to do the same.

Has anyone got anything from UW Bothell? I’m still waiting

Is it worth going to UW for comp sci if you’re not DA? I don’t know how much I trust myself to keep my grades up

@3advanced5me yes that means DA. Congrats!

@ineeduw I got accepted to Seattle but Bothell has not said anything yet.

Also, does anyone know about the competition for EE here? I applied for CS and got in as pre-science, but I think I’d rather do EE. Can my major be changed to pre-engineering?

Didn’t get into the Direct Admission to Foster but accepted to UW anyway as Pre-Major. How difficult is it to be accepted to Foster as an undergraduate, and what would I do if I wasn’t accepted then? Weighing options right now…

@cdnotready just a mom here. It’s very competitive. My husband and I just met a sophomore at Starbucks who applied to CS and didn’t get in. He was weighing his choices-switch majors (he LOVES CS) or go to Western (they have really upped their game as lots of great kids are having to leave UW due to not getting in their major). My husband advised him(he works for a very well known company in the iOT arena) to follow his passion. Even if it meant switching schools. He would choose to hire the kid from western that followed his passion versus the kid that switched just to stay at UW. Now if you switch because you changed your passion…that’s another story. Talk to some kids that are there. Most likely you will all need a masters. Bust your butt then. Factor in what else you want to do at school? Greek life? Pretty hard to get all As those first two years and keep an impressive resume while having fun in your house. Food luck wherever you land!

@lstirl I’m having a really hard time believing your daughter did not get DA at UW and got into Cal Poly engineering? That is crazy! I looked up the Cal Poly avg scores and gpa for engineering when my son was looking. Congratulations to her on that acceptance. Job well done.

Currently debating between UC Davis and UW! I’m from CA, and not sure about out of state tuition…

Unweighted GPA: 3.76
Major: Econ
AP/Honors Courses: 9
ACT: 33
Decent EC

Thoughts?

@kds02 We are surprised, too! There are two more times she can apply, at least.

Does anyone know how washington chooses who gets off their waitlist?? Is it like another admission process? I’m worried because my first-semester senior year grades are not great compared to my junior year grades

4.2W (3.6 UW) (junior year 2nd semester- 3 AP’s/5 classes)—>
3.8W (3.0 UW) ( 1st semester senior- 4 AP’s/5 classes)
Any thoughts?

this is my dream school im pretty worried
molecular/cellular biology

@lilas24 I think you have a good chance. I’ve spoken with many admission counsellors and it is a common belief that this year nearly all colleges are expecting international students to turn down offers due to the student visa situation.

So there is a higher chance that people on the waitlist will be offered admission
UW releases waitlist decisions starting May 15th
