***Official UW Class of 2021 Acceptance Thread***

How does UW tell an applicant if they made the honor’s program? Email? Letter? Or just something on unofficial transcript?

@Falconsroach7 You should take a look at the Foster site for Standard Admission to get a better idea of how competitive it is:

http://foster.uw.edu/academics/degree-programs/undergraduate-programs/admissions/standard-admission/

Looks like 1300 - 1500 apply each year and they take 30%-50%. And you need to have a minimum of 60 credits before applying, so it won’t be until sometime in your Sophomore year.

As to Seattle U, I can’t speak to the undergrad business program but I received my MBA from Seattle U and loved it. The instructors were all top-notch, real-world practitioners. Also, I believe very strongly in the Jesuit approach to education which, as you know, is the basis at Seattle U. And, there is something to be said for smaller classes with more accessibility to professors. Not to mention a smaller price-tag.

BTW, my D was accepted to UW Direct Admit to Foster but she is seriously considering Santa Clara for business for the reasons stated above.

@lstirl , which engineering major did your D apply to? @kds02 , my D also got into Cal Poly for CS, but thus far is “pre-engineering” at the UW. However, she applied to HCDE, and their direct freshman admit info page states they evaluate after UW decisions are released and notify mid-April. So I guess DA is still possible, but I understand the rate is about 3% so… not holding breath.

She applied to biomedical engineering.

@IslandDadinWa Awesome, thank you for the reply. I don’t think it looks as bad as some people are trying to make it out to be. Also have a bit of AP credit that should make it possible to apply during freshman year so that would be a bonus. All in all, not decided one way or the other yet but appreciate the link big time!

Got an email from UW honors today – I was accepted

Got an email from UW honors today too telling me of my acceptance!

Is there a Udub groupme?

Just got the honors email too!

Can someone explain the Direct entry and pre-engineering thing to me please

@kassyD, you can find the information here:

I did! Heard back last week and received my letter on Friday

Does anybody know if you are pre-med at university of Washington do you have better chances of getting into their medical school or not necessarily?

Do you have to apply to their honors program is it too late?

I’ve been waitlisted and really want to get in for Biomedical Engineering

Has anybody gotten DA into HCDE? My D got a “Welcome to pre-engineering” email today, but the direct freshman admit page for the HCDE department states the DA decisions don’t go out until April 15th. However, the departmental advisor stated that the decisions are all made by Admissions, not by the department; and Admissions has made the DA decisions already for other departments. Confused by the process, and wondering if anyone has been admitted to the major thus far.

I got into Davis and live in WA, but got waitlisted for UW. I am also not sure about out of state tuition for Davis, total costs per year are about 57k even with financial aid ;(

@Maffew exact same situation, except I live in California. I really want to attend UW though

@kassyD I feel you, I live in California and my parents want me to go to UCI since it’s cheaper and closer to home, but I got waitlisted. I got into UW with a small scholarship, but out of state tuition is so much. I don’t know what to do.

@worriedsenior Actually, the Davis Biomedical Engineering programme is quite good. However, I know UW is just class apart. If I were you I’d go to UW & I hope I see you there!!
