Official UW Transfer Thread 2020

I thought I would share my stats since NetID emails came today

Current Cumm GPA: 3.55
Spring 2019 GPA: 3.21
Summer 2019 GPA: 3.6
Fall 2019 GPA: 3.66
Pre-req for Foster GPA: 3.86
I’m taking ACCT 202 right now and I will take ACCT 203 and MATH 146 this spring, and finally MATH 148 (Business calc) in the summer (hoping my CC will be offering it)

FYI for anyone looking to use the “unofficial transcript trick” to find out if they were admitted the location has moved on the NetID page. It’s under the Academics link on the left and then over on the right under Grades & Transcripts.
Basically the trick (for those who don’t know) is if your unofficial transcript loads then there is an extremely high chance that you’ve been admitted. It’s a way to find out early.
Good luck everyone!

Is this true for freshman?

I don’t know

Is anyone else having issues looking at their application status? If not how do i do so because i have checked myuw like 10 times no luck

Two of my friends who applied as freshman got their decisions the other day and they both got waitlist, one in state and one OOS. I told them to appeal it because why not, but have any of you decided on whether or not you’re going to appeal? And if any transfers have appealed when did you send it? I know you can appeal before having a decision but since transfers find out so late I don’t know if it would be better to appeal some time in late April/early May or to just wait until after decisions come out.

Anyone know when decisions usually roll out for transfer students

@marlon01

I have not had any issues with checking application status, but also, according to their website the notification period for transfer students is May + June so it’s best to check within the upcoming months.

Great thanks.

I just wanted to see if I was missing any items from the list, however, I am unable to see this. But I am sure if they need anything they will contact me.

I was recently able to create my UW netID, once you log in, where on the page can you check the application status?

Yes, it should be on your homepage. I don’t believe they have released any decisions yet so it just says “Thank you for applying for admission to the Seattle campus of the University of Washington for autumn quarter 2020. We will inform you when a decision is made on your application.”

I am an international student and studying in a WA instate college. I applied to UW fall2020. My college gpa was 3.55 when I applied but in this quarter I got all 4.0 for my classes. Now my gpa is 3.62, still not high tho. Should I send my updated transcript to them because I think this might change their thought I little bit? Anyone knows?

And what is the avg gpa for WA college transferring students to get admit by UW? Anxious waiting. Fingers crossed and hope everyone good luck!!

@stassie18 Hi, I applied UW with the same gpa as yours. After win2020 quarter in my cc, my gpa become to 3.62. Do you think I need to send them my updated transcript? Maybe this will help. Honestly my gpa is not very high so I’m worried about the final coming decision.

@huskyheart31 I sent UWS my winter Q grades. There’s really no downside on sending them to them, especially if you experienced an upward trend in grades. Also UW does sometime ask transfer applicants for an updated official transcript, so I decided to send based on that and because two of the classes I took applied to my major. And for Autumn 2019, the average GPA of admitted transfer students was 3.53.

@Seam95 Hi! Thank you for sharing these information! I’m gonna send my winter quarter transcript then. I know the admitted college gpa is 3.55 for transfer students but I think they might have a higher standard for international students and that’s what I’m shaking for. But we can’t really know until they give the decision. Hope we all get in!

Hey all!
Now that it’s getting closer to May, has anyone had any success with the “unofficial transcript trick” yet?
Also, I wonder if decisions might be delayed with everything that is going on right now.

@Sibley91 im hoping decisions won’t be impacted, but they probably will be. Idk I wouldn’t be surprised if we start getting notification Late May, to June. And no on the unofficial transcript trick for me (yet).

it’s now that time of the year where I obsessively refresh the myuw page, even though decisions aren’t supposed to be out for a month!

Im stuck at home and waiting for when UW releases decisions so might as well join in on this thread :). I’m a WA CC student who finished their A.A transfer degree in winter quarter

Major: Psychology (did not apply directly, I have a few pre reqs that aren’t offered at my college)
GPA: 3.81 (3.82 w/ winter grades, which wasn’t sent to UW)
EC: Only my job lol (I work 25-30 hours a week)

Question, is anyone planning on living on campus next year when they transfer? I don’t want to commute to Seattle everyday, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to find an apartment/roommates off campus with everything thats going on, so living on campus seems to be the safest bet to have housing.
