Hey everyone…it’s MAY!!
@mathymagee Yes! It’s going to be a great month with hope, and I hope everyone stay safe! Have any of you heard back from UW yet? I just checked mine (Summer 2020) nothing comes up yet.
@alanyo999 No, I haven’t heard from Seattle yet. All that is on my unofficial transcript is my Bothell info since I was accepted to Bothell last month.
Hello all, it looks like I am just a little late to the party.
I am just wondering if anyone knows of anyone who has transferred from a 4-year university into UW after one year/if it is possible for me to be admitted?
I applied for autumn 2020 with around 31 quarter credits at the time (end of the first semester at 4-year another university) and a 4.2 GPA. My university does the 4.3 grading scale (4.3 offered for A+ grades which vary by course). The lowest submitted grade on my transcript was an A. They’ll only see my grades as a 4.0 GPA I believe, but that’s okay.
I applied because I realized I wanted to pursue a major not offered at my university. UW was the only university I applied to this year, and I plan on attending a WA CC if not admitted for autumn 2020.
Once again, just wondering if anyone knows my chances of being admitted/anyone who has transferred into UW at this stage in their academic career.
Thanks all, good luck.
Based on my knowledge, if you’re under 40 quarter credits? As a transfer student, you would have to submit your SAT/ACT scores. Are you about to complete over 40 credits after Spring 2020? If yes, then it would boost your chances. If you wrote in your personal statement-why you left your University for UW then it could also boost your chances. All factors are important, so hopefully, your SAT/ACT score is high, your college grades, and your personal statement was good.
Who else here is very nervous awaiting the transfer decision?
I actually retook the ACT before I submitted my application. It is still really low for them even though I improved all my sections (one was improved by 8 points). I only managed to get a 26 sadly. The SAT would’ve been much easier as I was taking practice tests every weekend and was consistently getting in the 1300s, but there weren’t any dates to take it before the application was due.
As for my personal statement, I really tried to focus on why I am leaving, with an emphasis on my new degree not being offered at my current school. I sent it to all my friends who are at UW and they all said I seemed like a scholar who would fit in there. I also sent it to a friend who is at an Ivy and they said I seemed really mature and like a good fit for the university. Who knows. If you want to read my personal statement you can always hit me up on Reddit, my user is shay_thecat
I will have around 50 quarter credits when the semester is over in two weeks. I have also maintained over a 4.0 again despite everything that has been going on. Obviously a 4.0 is less than a 4.2, but I have really struggled this semester. In February, a family member of mine was diagnosed with leukemia and that took a huge toll on my mental health and ability to perform academically to the best of my ability. I hope UW Admissions understands that there are more things going on in all our lives that may not be indicated on our application.
Thanks for the advice.
Since your friends believe that your personal statement is excellent and based on your description, I think it’s great too, so believe in yourself. Otherwise, I believe that your 50 credits and 4.0 GPA are sufficient enough for admission. Transfer students usually have a higher chance of admitting, and I’m assuming there will be students from out of state withdrawing their application to the UW due to COVID-19. Anyways, good luck with your studies and admission.
I just want to say that I think because we’re in a stagnant spot due to the current state of things we have a lot of time to sit around and think (I know I do!) and so we are naturally going to worry about our applications!! Believe me, I have been obsessively refreshing this forum, as well as my unofficial transcript page lol. But I think we should all be proud of the time and effort we put into our applications and we should be proud of what it took for us to get here. Transferring is not an easy route to take and we have kind of had to create our own paths. Be proud of yourselves!!!
i’m really shocked no ones heard yet!
@kechat me too, I thought at least some people will get some news today. Through last year’s thread, biochem is the major released on Apr.30.
I applied for stats pre-major, seems like I have to wait until the mid-June to hear back… painful waiting absolutely. But let’s keep positive and doing things great for our current college life!
Do they send out admission notices on the weekends though?
I’m not sure about the decisions on the weekend thing, but I think they might be holding back transfer admissions to see how many freshman enroll and how many people unenroll due to Covid. I’m not 100% just a thought
I wouldn’t be surprised if people started to get notified late next week, since now all the freshman have committed to their colleges. UW probably wanted to wait and see how many OOS/IS students are attending first.
@uw10111 This was what I thought as well but I am an OOS international student applying for summer but I have not heard anything from UW yet which makes me pretty anxious at this point.
One thing I have noticed is that someone from UW searched my Linkedin profile on Friday, I am fairly sure it is not a random search because I am using another Linkedin account with my preferred English name instead of the account that shows my real name(which also the name I used to apply for transfer). The account shows my real name is basically blank and I never uploaded anything to it, I have never seen anyone search for that account in the past year.
I am wondering if the admissions office doing this for everyone? Is it just a normal search or could it be a good sign? I got so nerves since they would find nothing on the account that they have searched. By the way, I don’t know if they send out the decisions in order but I submitted on the deadlines afternoon.
Good luck to all of you guys!
On the LinkedIn email, it says:
“You appeared in 1 search this week”
“1 number of times your profile appeared In search results between April 21- April 28”
“Where your searchers work: University of Washinton, Higher Education”.
@alanyo999 How can you see where the people who search you work? I can see that I appeared in searches on Linkedin, but it says to see who searched I have to have a premium membership
I got the email from Linkedin that but I don’t know exactly who is the person searched me, and I do not have a premium, just use the link in the email.
hopefully they send out some decisions next week! good luck everyone, stay positive!
Does anyone know when will foster release the decisions?
