[OFFICIAL] Waiting Room

I know, I got accepted to chicago and waitlisted to wash u. I really want to hear back from rice though… The waiting is killing me

@caramia918: I envy you so much… Chicago was my dream school! If I were you, I would immediately withdraw all my other apps and choose there.

@jackdaniels: Yep, apparently a lot of people got waitlists from those two schools…

Waitlisting this year is CRAZY

Although I’ve heard WashU is always bad

Guess it’s not today!

Sigh. My son and I leaving for a college visit Friday morning and won’t return until Sunday night. I have to remind him to take his laptop and Esther log-in information!

MaineLonghorn, I wouldn’t worry about it this weekend. By all reports here over the last couple days it sounds like Rice really doesn’t intend to issue decisions until April 1, all prior years’ experience to the contrary. We’ll probably never know why that is. If it’s because they are simply swamped with applications it’s understandable. If it’s for strategic reasons having to do with cross-perception with the Ivies and other “elite” schools or something else, it would sure be interesting to know their thinking.

Not much we can do about it. I’m just anxious about how quickly all the kids and parents will have to make very difficult decisions after April 1. As my wife put it, it’s “Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, HURRY!!!”

Yeah - same here. My son refuses to pick a second-choice school while waiting for his first-choice school to answer - he has it narrowed down to FOUR (one of which hasn’t answered yet).

There is so much to do, dorm selection etc…It would be nice to know so we can get the ball rolling one way or the other.

Same thing!^
Kids in my school apply to schools that have given decisions in the beginning of March (SUNY and other state schools), so they’re already talking about dorms and whatnot, and when everyone asks me, I sadly reply that I have yet to decide where to go to college, because decisions haven’t come yet! Oh, the price of ambition. XD

I though Rice issued dorms randomly, the students don’t choose…?

@painterchica I know how you feel, the same thing’s going on at my school. Teachers ask me all the time, and I can’t give them an adequate response.

Rice assigns students to res colleges randomly. But students may have to choose dorms for other colleges they’ve applied to…

Yeah, sorry, I wasn’t thinking about that >_<. Haha

@Simplyjuil…I meant at the other colleges my DD has been accepted to, people are selecting their dorms so she will get what is left if she doesn’t get into Rice (her first choice). I just want to know so we can get on with our lives, also my computer and I need to see other people : )

@pecos I see where you’re coming from. I got accepted to another college and might not be able to get housing if I don’t apply soon. Hopefully we’ll hear from Rice soon!

College Decision Hell Week starts tomorrow for me. Berkeley followed by many other universities. In 7 days I’ll know where the next four years of my life will be spent- a rather scary prospect.

I’m also waiting on Berkeley. 3:00 pm tomorrow!

…this is the worst part of the college process…

I know this was asked, but I can’t find it through search.
I know the decision is in Esther, but where would the line say approved? I don’t see a space or box for decisions.

NYU acceptances came out this afternoon…come on RICE you are my D’s TOP Choice and the only one left she is waiting on.
