Sounds like OSU moved commitment date to 5/15 due to fafsa

S24 received an email regarding a travel grant for Buckeye Bound. The grant ($600) is intended to cover travel expenses for an OSU event.

We got one too!

Is this need-based or based on merit I wonder…?

Don’t know why S24 received this grant. it doesn’t seem to be based on need or merit, though.

We got $500 travel grant. Maybe just to lure people to visit who live further away or that they know haven’t visited yet? I have no idea either but I thought was very nice gesture. If we get any merit we will be using it to visit OSU:)
I doubt it can be need based since we know they haven’t even seen the fafsa yet and won’t for a while. lol!

Definitely not needs based in our case. We qualify for nothing. What the gov thinks we should be able to pay per year (our EFC) is outrageous.

So I ran Ohio State’s NPC as others here have suggested and it estimates that my D24 will get two scholarships. But she hasn’t received any notification yet. Is this usually pretty accurate?

It was accurate for us for both my kids - S22 and S24. If I recall correctly, S22 received his scholarship letter in late February, and S24 received his last week.

Thank you for showing us this…I will run the NPC today.
Quick question…when I look for the NPC for OSU, I only found the 2023–2024 academic year NPC. Does that matter? And did you just put in your 2022 financial info like you did for FAFSA 2024-2025 academic year?
Also, how does the NPC know grants and scholarship estimates if you don’t enter in GPA? or do you?
Sorry if someone answered this already:)
Thanks!!!

FYI, Spring Game tickets went on sale this morning. We’re combining it with the April 12th BuckeyeBound since the game is on April 13th. Plenty of seats available.

deleted due to accidentally posting the same thing twice

Yes I just entered the EFC from this year’s FAFSA. No need to enter all other financials if you do that. They don’t ask for GPA which is weird. Just test scores and class rank. But our school doesn’t rank so they said guess. :upside_down_face: Took a wild guess and have no idea if it’s near accurate. Hope that doesn’t negatively impact scholarship qualifications.

Same here - wondering if GPA is taken into consideration instead of class rank.

where do you find your EFC?

Once you complete the FAFSA, it is given to you upon completion.

I hope so! That would be very good for us with UW 3.96 GPA. I’m actually worried about them sticking with class rank for it because our school profile shows that 40% of students have a W GPA of 4.0 or above. Although D24 has 4.3, there is no information other than that so it just looks like she’s in the top 40%. I’m confident she’s in top 10% bc the highest from last year was 4.4 but they don’t disclose that. Very large class at very competitive school.

I will continue stalking the mailbox!!
