TY for the insight! My son attended Buckeye PreCollege 2 week enrichment on campus this past summer and has his heart set on attending but his numbers aren’t world class like the phenoms that I saw posted last night… If he gets in it will be b/c of the “holistic” approach and maybe the OSU Prof’s letter of rec…test optional, didn’t submit, bunch of APs, 4 yrs of baseball, 3.8 GPA… he already knows Fisher is a reach for him, but it’s worth a shot… of all the forums I’ve read, not one mentioned that they are a military dependent… we lived in Japan for 6 years and he’s bi-racial and bi-lingual …using Post 9/11 GI bill for a “free” ride…no OOS scholarships needed…so maybe they can “use” him to bill Uncle Sam full sticker price?.. JK… either way, not sure if that experience is valuable or desired by the selection panel… thanks again for your time!
according to recent US News World Reports:
UM (4)
Indiana (8)
OSU (14)
Wisco(19)
MSU (23)
PennSt(23)
Purdue(30)
OSU(14)
does anyone know when morill scholars or honors/scholar programs will be released? Is it on a rolling basis?
Finally my D received the buckeye email now
Based on my dd’s experience in an earlier year, honors and scholars is spread out over time, over several months. Some Dec, some Jan like my dd, some later. Not sure about Morrill. It seemed like Morrill was bunched together in Jan but it didn’t seem to be a single day.
accepted at 11:59 pm december 9th, don’t lose hope just yet! (or maybe just say january 19th and don’t get your hopes up lol… i fully thought i was rejected.) i also didn’t get a buckeye setup email until after my acceptance came.

What else can you say about Morrill? Looking for any info/details!
Did he apply? Are you waiting?
Can someone clarify. If you are deferred to Jan, will OSU let you know so you can stop obsessively checking? So we will hear something now?
Morrill comes out usually every Friday until the end of march. The last weekend when I applied they sent out both acceptances and rejections. There is an award called distinction which pays for room and board and tuition and for that they’ll notify you before march so you can fly or come to osu and do an interview to be further considered.
not sure…but we still haven’t heard a thing and it’s a bit stressful
When my son was deferred EA a couple years ago- we heard in March with the last release of RD
if you didn’t hear December 8 you were not deferred — they have two different dates for EA decisions. In years past, decisions only came on those two days so you don’t have to keep checking. We are in the same boat.
They only defer during the January round
Was there a systematic difference in those admitted EA on the first date vs second date? Is it based on major or high stats? Or application date?
I have heard is totally random
Thanks … makes sense…
how do you know?
Below is from a FB group post. This is surprising….something is off.
My son got his first college rejection - Ohio State University business school.
He has 4.14 GPA, Eagle Scout, started 2 businesses, works a part time job, plays multiple sports, etc Sometimes it doesn’t make sense but he apparently wasn’t a good fit for OSU. The world is still spinning and he has other higher ranked school options. g) Trying to think positive as rejections are always tough!
We are OOS; applied SAT test optional as his scores didn’t enhance his package according to his college advisor
Thanks. So no more EA notifications will come out until Jan? Did not know of two dates. Bummer.
