My out of state daughter received a letter in the mail on Friday about National Buckeye Scholarship and Maximus Scholarship.

how do you hear if you received the Buckeye scholarship? via email, the portal or regular mail?

Regular snail mail

do you have to commit to receive the scholarship? What is the criteria for the Buckeye National Scholarship?

did your daughter already commit before she received notification of the scholarship?

No - my kid’s letter came without a commitment yet

that’s what I thought

My daughter was accepted OOS during the January early action round. She just received a letter today indicating that she received a Provost Scholarship ($2k per year) and the National Buckeye Scholarship ($13,500 per year).

congrats! Would you mind posting stats, in vs out of state, and major…so we can see if we’re lined up for similar?

We are out of state too. My daughter was accepted in December with a biology major. Class rank 1/371, GPA around 4.5, and SAT 1460. She received National Buckeye and Maximus Scholarship notification via US mail.

How much is the Maximus scholarship?

Maximus is $3000.

@kelbubba Congrats! Has she heard anything about honors or scholars? My senior has the same stats and received the same scholarships but no word on honors/scholars.

Yes, she heard about honors about 2 weeks ago. Good luck!!!

I do wish colleges informed applicants of admissions results, honors and scholarships using the same medium at the same time. Using portal for admissions decisions, email for honors and USPS mail for scholarships seems to be inefficient.

tOSU is not the only college that does this.

is the portal updated with this or its only the snail mail they send with this info?

This is all very confusing. My student was accepted on the EA decision day but we’ve heard nothing else. No word on honors, scholarships, etc. The only thing he’s gotten is a notification that he wasn’t chosen to move forward with the Stamps scholarship. Should we assume that he won’t be getting any other scholarships either?

For the record, he is OOS. 36 ACT, 4.3 w GPA (3.9 uw), varsity athlete, multiple state and one very prestigious national award (in both academics and arts). He’s gotten merit award info from eight other schools - two offering full COA. The only schools he hasn’t gotten award info from yet are the t20 privates that he’s not gotten admission info from yet and Michigan. Am I just being very, very impatient or are scholarships not in the future at this point?

what state are you from? We’re in the same boat (from Virginia) but noticed when folks report receiving things (e.g., cards from the bus school) we get it 7-10 days later than others who report it here.

With those stats you will get the Buckeye Scholarship for sure - it’s rolling out this month.
