Ohio State University Early Action For Fall 2024 Admission

are you a business student?

I applied as Computer Science / Engineering and got accepted to their main campus. Apart of the first batch of acceptances and got into their scholars program.

My son got the change of delivery in the my osu but didn’t received an email yet. I haven’t heard anyone getting emails yet today. Also, the deferred status changed to evaluating. Does this sound promising?

Got email for daughter who was deferred that buckeye email account created the portal says evaluation

Portal should say major

ahh… a bit heart broken today… the dream of Columbus comes to an end… really wish they had said no back in December… dragging the deferred hope this long makes it hurt even more…got denied.
I feel bad I didn’t force him study more and to improve SAT enough to include it with evaluation… he applied T/O and only a 3.8W… a couple of APs ; sports, part time job and above average personal statement… just not good enough when competing as an OOS applicant…GOOD NEWS! Can now focus on the summer start LEAP program at Penn State University Park. Didn’t get into Smeal, but will be a DUS Div of Undergrad Students…and complete entry to major requirements.
Happy this mad year-long adventure is coming to an end… It was much harder than I imagined.
Good luck to your family… our kids are going to be just fine! Thank you for your kind words all year.

I’m heartbroken for you - it’s a brutal process!!! I will say I have a Senior at Penn State who began her 4 years during COVID. She wasn’t sure how it would go - she never got to have a student accepted day because of covid and restrictions were tough for the first year. It is her favorite place on earth now. She got into Smeal after Sophomore year - as long as he keeps up his GPA, he won’t have a problem. She is so sad to be leaving but had an amazing experience and has a great job lined up. I hope your son finds a great group of people and LOVES his time in State College.:blue_heart::white_heart:

So sorry to hear. But this is exactly why I am not a fan of deferring or waitlists - it just drags on the process way too long. Congratulations on Pen State! Great school!

Congratulations to your son on his acceptance to Penn State! I heard that they had a record amount of applications this year so it’s an accomplishment to get in. Also, he is not at any disadvantage from not being directly admitted to Smeal. Everyone including the kids directly admitted to Smeal have to complete Entry to Major requirement and apply to their major in sophomore year. I think the only advantage is that directly admitted Smeal kids get a Smeal advisor from the beginning, not a huge deal. Everyone I know loved their time at Penn State

Does anyone know or have a guess on what the acceptance rate was this year?

Daughter #2 also accepted after deferred in early action. Communications - Columbus
Daughter #1 accepted EA Business - Columbus

Just accepted admission and paid $100 for each of them.

Go Buckeye’s

If I had to guess, it’s in the mid to low 40s.

I agree probably low 40s given they said they had record applications (80k plus) and was planning to keep enrolled class same size as past. Engineering and business likely lower rates of admission given number of applicants

DS got into the University Honors program at The Ohio State and received no merit (we are OOS). Called Fin Aid office and they confirmed no merit was given and indicated they must have run out of scholarship funding. So disappointing! Looks like The Ohio State is officially off our list.

What is her major?

My son was accepted from OOS but did not receive an anticipated 15k yearly merit predicted by the NPC on their site.

I think this is a sign that merit is very competitive this year

Same here. OSU was top of his list after Buckeye Bound visit. Beautiful campus and city but lack of scholarship makes it a tough pill to swallow.
