Did your son get notification of Honors in the acceptance letter? Or was it a later notice / email?

Email

Does anyone know if all Honors notifications came out?

Documentation we received said honors and merit-based scholarships would come out over the coming weeks.

Received an email few days ago

In Buckeyemail? Our daughter received a snail mail 4 years ago.

S25 still hasn’t received EA admissions decision yet. Anyone else in the same boat?

Are you OOS? We are and were told OOS EA would be released on 1/24.

Oh yep, OOS. Thank you!

O-H…. Fill in the blank.

OOS applicants -twins. Did any OOS applicant receive a generic mailer this week that said "Columbus welcomes you to explore and engage’’ and has comments from students about living in Columbus. I assume that they send it to all applicants. Just curious to know about Columbus in general… We heard some campus safety issues but OSU is a place my kids are seriously looking into.

I did. OOS.

I live in Columbus and teach at Ohio State. Columbus is a great city and is growing exponentially. We have some major corporations here (Nationwide Insurance, Huntington Bank, Bath and Body Works, to name just a few), so there are great opportunities for internships and jobs after graduation. We have some really unique areas of town for shopping, are widely known for our restaurant scene, and there is lots to do for students.

To answer your question about safety–the campus is urban. Being on the actual campus itself is quite safe and very few issues occur. The safety concerns start when leaving campus for the surrounding area for off-campus housing. I don’t think it’s any worse than other urban campuses, but awareness is key, especially when walking after dark. The university does offer discounted Lyft rides for students after dark and there is a partnership between OSU and Columbus police to patrol those areas. My daughter was accepted and is still considering, but if she does attend, we’ll have a close discussion about safety in numbers and other ways to stay safe—but I’ll have that discussion with her anywhere she decides to go. I’m happy to answer other questions if you have any!
