<p>Miami, what gives you a sense that this was in fact a hate crime? Hate crimes are committed against someone because the perpetrator hates something specific about that individual. Not all white on black crimes are considered hate crimes, nor are all crimes against homosexuals, or an other group. If they watched several other potential victims walk past, and selected this particular individual because he was white, then maybe it is a hate crime, but it doesn’t sound like that’s what happened - it sounds like they were opportunists. The potential school shooting in GA wasn’t a hate crime either (in fact, he intended to target the first responders, not the students or staff at the school - so maybe it was a hate crime aimed at first responders).</p>
<p>As has already been pointed out, we as a society seem to have a problem with some of our young men. Young men, because they are the ones that commit these crimes - we focus a great deal on young black men, but in reality it is young men of all stripes. Is there something genetic, or is there maybe a difference in the way we raise our girls that helps them to not react in the same ways? What can we learn from the behavior and treatment of young women, to help our young men?</p>
My husband’s nephew has upper middle class white parents. He has been in and out of detention since he was 15 years old. He is trouble on two feet. And it is absolutely all about parenting in his case.</p>
<p>zoosermom–there is no doubt that upper middle class parents can “raise” trouble on two feet (love the mental pic!). But, there are lost kids that parents did not cause and cannot fix.</p>

-As I said it will never ever labeled as such despite of an open admission that they hate whilte people and bragging that they knock them down in good numbers. When he said “I hate white people”, that is waht everybody reads. There is NO “sense” on my part, it is his own words that do not need to be interpreted, no he did not say “dislike”, no he did not say “cannot stand”, he said “I hate”. Are you asking me to interpret “I hate” as “I am indifferent” or “I love” or what? I do not understand the question at all. Something specific against the individual was very clear by the crimianal own admittance - this specific was the white color of the victim’s skin and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING else.</p>
<p>From what I have read, Edwards’ mother is in jail, and he was already on probation for some other offense. Luna’s father had not been in the picture, although there was a stepfather who recently died, but it is not clear whether he was still married to Luna’s mother at the time. I haven’t seen any details about Jones’ family.</p>
The individual performed the action for which he stands accused.
The individual is found competent and accountable for his actions.</p>
<p>Conclusion:
The individual is a filthy, vile racist pig who indiscriminately committed murder, is of no past, present or imagined future use to society and there exists no punishment severe enough to square this individual’s debt to society.
May he be bodily destroyed in this life, and eternally tortured in the next.</p>
