Old TV sit-coms you miss

Alan Young, who played “Wilburrrrr” in “Mr. Ed”, has ascended to the big stable in the sky. Considering how sexualized & cynical today’s TV shows are, it’s amazing that an innocent, silly show about a talking horse could run for 6 seasons.

What other old TV shows do you miss?

When Patty Duke died recently, attempted to explain to my adult children the premise of the Patty Duke Show. There was lots of eye rolling and “Really??” It was just a more innocent time.

Three’s Company

Different Strokes

The Odd Couple, All in The Family. Good news is thanks to the oldiest channels like Me Tv, nick at night and so forth, they are always on:).

Remember how risqué the innuendo was in its day?

Jefferson’s!

I’ll always love Andy Griffith and Leave it to Beaver. Not nearly the same ideals but I loved Happy Days and MASH. Another vote for Different Strokes.

MASH although it was more of a dramedy than a sitcom.

MASH. Everybody Loves Raymond. The Facts of Life. Who’s the Boss? Happy Days. Roseanne. The Golden Girls. Family Ties. The Wonder Years.

How about more quirky ones, Soap and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman…and a spin off from Soap, Benson (I loved the governor in that show:)

Before Tom Hanks’ fame went super-nova, he played in “Bosom Buddies”. I wonder which public restroom his Bosom Buddies screen character would be using today…

Ditto for Klinger in MASH.

Bewitched. That Girl. Mary Tyler Moore show and Dick Van Dyke Show.

Husband liked F Troop. Hogan’s Heros.

I LOVED Hogan’s Heros!

Golden Girls…and I never tire of the reruns.

Ditto for Bosom Buddies. I would add Gidget, with Sally Field, along with Taxi and Cheers.

^Ditto for Hogan’s Heroes, that was my favorite. And now I’m really going to date myself here but does anyone remember The Ghost & Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) and The Mothers in Law (Eve Arden & Kaye Ballard)? My sister and I were young kids at the time and loved to watch together. Both those shows were hilarious!

Remember how Barbara Eden’s belly button was censored in “I Dream of Jeanie”?

I miss “The Waltons”. A nice family story. Earl Hamner died just a few weeks ago. He also wrote “Falconcrest” (remember that one?) with Jane Wyman as the matriarch of a wine growing family in Napa. I was also hooked on “Dallas” for years.

Get Smart, Gilligan’s Island, Beverly Hillbillies and Courtship of Eddy’s Father. I never missed an episode of Dennis the Menace and also loved Gomer Pyle.

I can’t believe it’s been over 20 years since the Wonder Years ended. A favorite.
Leave It To Beaver is a classic.
