Another vote for The Courtship of Eddie’s Father - People, let me tell you 'bout my best friend…
Of course, I was already in love with Bill Bixby from My Favorite Martian! :x
ETA: Those shows are MeTV can be a double-edged sword - I was CRAZY about The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and I am shocked at how cringe-worthy those shows are when I watched a couple. I’ll keep my memories of how suave Napoleon was and how adorable Illya sounded!
As far as I can tell, the only reruns during the week are on around 5:30AM our time. Funny thing, this morning after H got up and left for work (around 5:15), I couldn’t go back to sleep (which is rare), so I decided to turn it on; first time I’ve seen it in months. My challenge is always how many seconds into the episode do they need to get before I know which one it is. I think it took me about ten seconds this morning - a challenging one. It was the one where Ricky puts Lucy on a time schedule (after they arrived late at the Littlefields late for dinner, where Ricky is being considered for manager of the night club) , and she and Ethel and Mrs. Littlefield concoct a dinner experience to make all their husbands regret putting them on schedules.
I loved courtship of eddies father also. First time I remember Jody foster in anything. She wasn’t in many episodes and still memorable.
All these shows you guys are mentioning make me smile.
Flipper although I didn’t see it often. Also the show with Mr. French and " mrs. Beasley" gosh, I’m blanking…
Was Rin Tin Tin a show or just the dogs name.
My Three Sons and Father Knows Best. ( title sounds funny, now)
Caught my husband watching The Munsters more than once lately. It makes me laugh coming home from work seeing him sitting there 50 years later.
One i didn’t like was Petticoat Junction. Have no idea why. Also not a big Three Stooges fan but i did watch them and saw their movies at the local theatre for $.50 or was it $.10 matinees? Gosh, we could walk to the movies and I went with just my friends and I was less than 9 yrs old.
Too lazy to fix typos and spelling, I apologize.its 4 AM.
I remember the Ghost and Mrs Muir!! Loved that as a kid, thanks for reminding me! What was the other one with Muffy the little girl and her butler and single-father raising her in NYC? Can’t remember the name and it’s killing me.
loved all in the family, archie bunker best character and mash
both of those would still hold up today but archie bunker would be ripped due to political correctness
With cable now, you can watch a lot of the old shows and I have found that some of the shows that were my favorites are almost impossible to watch now.
As for old sitcoms, MASH, Taxi, Barney Miller. All wonderfully written and terrifically acted. They are classic sitcoms in the way that Seinfeld is. One that I will always enjoy, perhaps nostalgically, is Leave it to Beaver.
Since we’ve also included dramas, I do miss St Elsewhere (although I have the series on dvd). Another favorite was A Year in the Life, a great show with an amazing cast, many of whom, who were not then but are now familiar faces- Richard Kiley, Jayne Atkinson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Adam Arkin, Diana Muldaur, Wendy Phillips and Scott Paulin.
Another good one was Get Real with Jesse Eisenberg, Jon Tenney, Anne Hathaway, Debrah Farentino, Christina Pickles, all of whom we’ve seen in many things since.
Family with James Broderick and Sada Thompson, Meredith Baxter Birney, Kristy McNichol, Gary Frank, was another favorite.
I loved Brady Bunch, Gilligan’s Island, and Dragnet. I also liked Facts of Life, Mission Impossible, Man from U.N.C.L.E., Marcus Welby, MD, Mr. and Mrs. Hart, and Dark Shadows
I was a big fan of Welcome Back Kotter. I remember when my parents wouldn’t let me watch one “Parental Guidance Suggested” episode in which a girl was pregnant. Serious stuff!
