I just read an interview with the actress who plays V. I had assumed the character was dead, but the actress said she got “less dead” as they filmed the episode, which sounds like they reconsidered as they made the episode & are leaving their options open to have her come back. However, the actress has signed onto a new series, so…

Emmy nominations for Piper, Red, Sophia, Nikki, and … Crazy Eyes!! Definitely pulling for Crazy Eyes.

That woman who plays crazy eyes has got to be doing Shakespeare onstage pretty regularly, in my opinion. Very talented.

I thought it was interesting that they have OITNB in the comedy category.
Maybe they were thinking of this.

I saved season 2 for today, following surgery in the early morning. Such a great series.

Laverne Cox will speak at San Diego’s LGBT pride event next weekend - D and friends are going to see her. Should be an interesting event!

I thought she was crying because she missed Vee not because she was betrayed by her.

She’s needy and clingy and truly disturbed, but I don’t think Crazy Eyes is stupid. She had to figure out that she was set up by V to take the fall over Red.

I don’t remember about the part taking the fall over red. In the scene where crazy eye was crying, she was alone while the other family was in a group talking as if they were not on the same page.

i think she both missed the closeness she had with V and the fact she was betrayed.

kind of like finding out your spouse or s/o is having an affair. You feel like your heart is broken.

Could be. If crying is due to betrayal, it puzzles me that she was crying alone while the others who were also “used” by V were chatting up in a group.

They were also part of the betrayal - V got them to say that Crazy Eyes was the one who attacked Red. Plus, they’ve never really embraced Crazy Eyes into their group. She’s one of them due to her race, but they keep their distance from her as far as really being friends.

here is a great discussion of this by the actress that plays crazy eyes

Great article - thanks!

…And it’s funny that even after everything is undone, she’s still sobbing for this loss….

Crying for the loss rather than for betrayal makes the story more complex imo.

Pizzagirl

I honestly can’t believe you said they aren’t physically differentiated. There is so much I could say about that, but I will only say how about starting with their complexions???

No one dislikes Piper because she’s white and boring. I personally dislike her because she comes off entitled and whiny. I also hate the way she treats Larry, and she continues to be bamboozled by Alex.

I’m finally getting around to airing my thoughts about the season.

I think the weakest part of the season was the ending. It was too dramatized and didn’t have the impact that the season 1 ending did. I think this may have been a result of the fact that production staff probably knew the show would be renewed for a third season. I thought that Vee’s death was appropriate since it fully reinforced that she was cause of her demise by making so many enemies during her stay.

So do you all think that naming the character “Red” is an homage to The Shawshank Redemption, where Morgan Freeman’s character (also “Red”) is the man who can get contraband into the prison?

Huh. Have to say that my memory of The Shawshank Redemption is not that detailed. But why not?

It could be because in the book she is Pop.
