Hey guys!
I went to school a couple of years ago, but I was depressed at the time and dropped out with a 1.5ish GPA with 29 credits.
I was medicated and learned from my mistakes in the past and believe I have become a better person because of it.
Fastforward to today, I’m looking to earn my Comp. Sci. Associate’s degree with a GPA of 3.65 with 47 credits (hopefully better after this semester) and have a formidable portfolio.
From the top-100 that are U.S. universities http://www.shanghairanking.com/ARWU2015.html which are realistic options? Yes I realize it’s from 2015, that’s not a mistake.
So far I have applied to 5 schools, one of which has an articulation agreement with my current community college(but not until a year from now): The schools I chose:
34)University of Colorado at Boulder
46)University of Maryland, College Park
90)University of Arizona
93)Arizona State University
93)University of Utah
I realize that international and transfer students are at a somewhat of a disadvantage, but I am waitlisted on a private scholarship and one of the rules is that I get accepted into one of the schools in the aforementioned list. I need a couple more safety schools and a realistic target school. I was thinking about Georgia Tech?
GTech would be tougher to get in to than all 5 you listed.
You probably have a decent to good shot at the last 3.
Frankly, I would be shocked if you were shut out.
You probably have a decent to good shot at all the publics below PSU (at #60) on the ARWU list as well as BU.
Thanks! I am planning on applying to 7 schools. Last 3 were Safety choices and I needed 3 reach schools and a dream, (high but realistic)

I added Ohio State University (as I was previously accepted a couple of years ago ) and I think I have a good chance.

I also applied to University of Pittsburgh. I think at this point I have a good safety net.
Penn State I have thought about but I don’t like their inner transfer process. 20 Campuses competing for a transfer to University Park (which is the only approved school on the aforementioned list) Look at the statistics http://admissions.psu.edu/apply/statistics/ it’s rather discouraging that out of 10k applicants only 448 got into University Park.
Now, I’d love to apply to a prestigious school so I don’t have any regrets but I also want to be realistic. I also acknowledge the fact that I don’t have the stats for a top, top school.
P.S. I am assuming this was moved to the Chinese sub-forum for “Shanghai” even though I’m neither chinese nor is the post relevant to the country. I think the general International/transfer sub is a better fit.
