Wonderful to hear about happy outcomes. Thanks for posting. Gives the rest of us hope.

zippedshut- Thanks for the update. I have wondered how it all went for her. You must be excited to have her back.

Glad it all turned out well and that she’s back safe and sound.

glad the kid came back safe!

". In the meantime, my alma mater (#1 LAC, with only 2,000 students), said they had 43 rapes on campus last year (that’s not counting sexual assaults.) That’s according to the college president himself."

I’m sure it is far safer to be a woman in Pakistan than at a top LAC in the US, seeing as we have such a terrible, violent country.

Or maybe it could be that many (certainly not all) sexual assaults on college campuses are due to young women drinking too much alcohol and leaving themselves vulnerable…and feeling pretty safe to report it. As opposed to violent attacks in Pakistan where the woman could not have done a thing to prevent it, and most women not reporting it because it would shame their families and be considered their fault? How about a little bit of a reality check?

“I want to add that the Pakistani diet worked as well as your Indian diet. She left small, came back really small. First thing we did was buy her some jeans that would stay up. Size 1/2”

I am very glad that she came back safely. But is being “small” and coming back “really small” a good thing? Size 1/2 is desirable and getting really small is purposeful? I think I must have misunderstood something here.

Sorry ignore this post

busdriver-By stating how small she came back I was commenting on the biggest change I could see. As a mom, before she left I asked what she would eat and was assured that she would not starve. She experienced the same weight loss that Mini had in India when eating a diet high in rice but we did not expect her to lose so much.

Ah, okay. I hope she quickly filled up on ice cream when she came back! My son is also very thin, and an extremely picky eater. I am very concerned that he would either damage his health or come back unhealthily thin after much time out of country. Nothing wrong with being thin, as long as they’re healthy.
