S24 was not particularly interested in UTampa, based on NPC we couldn’t afford it. So, it didn’t make into our list. If you have some way to get better merit, good for you.
She applied last Friday so I am guessing we have a while bf we know!
Coastal seems like an good overall option.
Yes, I agree…just need my dtr to commit, which is difficult.
S24 put in deposit to USF! Go Bulls!!
It was a long journey to this point. Thank you all for your help and support.
That’s great news! Congratulations! USF is a great school and all the kids we know who go there are very happy!
Congratulations
, that is exciting news!
Thank you! Yes, it is exciting and we’re relieved. The uncertainty for 6 months is finally over! ![]()
This is great news. Congrats! USF is a great school. Please do let us know how the Mar 23 admitted students day goes.
I want to share with a group who would understand. S24 is taking his first and only AP course. First term he finished with a C+, second term, a B+. For her third term, he currently has an A-. Now he didn’t bring it up to a A- in total, but I am proud of the improvement. The final grade will be determined by all grades combined. I don’t remember if they have a final or just take the AP exam. Fingers crossed.
Hope everyone is enjoying the lasts of the lasts. I am getting quite depressed about it, but have started working on D27’s college list to help me get through it ![]()
Good job on your kid’s progress.
I don’t call it enjoying, with all the stress to reach the finish line at the high school. S24 is quitting his part-time job this month to concentrate on his final quarter.
Atleast there is spring break to relax ![]()
This is awesome progress! Great job!
D24 did not get the music scholarship at Austin College, but she’s taking it in stride and handling it well. There was a lot of competition for it this year.
Still no word from them on their estimated financial aid award letter. D24 hasn’t told us if she wants to pursue filling out Southwestern’s estimated fin. aid form.
Both options will likely require D24 to take on some student loans. Southwestern is more expensive than AC, so I think that will result in AC winning out. But D24 doesn’t want us bugging her right now about it, so I’m chomping at the bit and babbling about it here instead. ![]()

Sounds to me like he’s “learning how to learn” when presented with rigorous college-level material. Can’t ask for anything more…
@mango2school , bad choice of words on my end.
Congrats to S24 on USF
Thanks for all the support. I’m so happy he is getting there. On another note, it looks like he may get his very first detention in 13 years, for tardiness. So there is some senioritis going on. Sigh
S24 found out he didn’t win a scholarship as well, after spending much time on it. He was a little disappointed first, since he lost another one a week ago.
He is recovering now and looking to finish all these madness of college admission and scholarship competitions.
Got one more lined up and he is really nervous of losing it, because that’s the school he really likes and had visited twice. If he doesn’t bags this, it would be unaffordable.
Fingers crossed on the last one!
Well, he didn’t get it
, but they did offer him a pretty good scholarship. So the CoA is at least close to our state flagship.
Well all of our results are in. 12 acceptances, 1 waitlist (UTK which she did not join) this was an bummer since it was her #1 but we knew it would be a reach with the crazy increase in applications and 1 denial (Auburn). She just found out she was accepted to American University and Indiana. She went to admitted day at Elon and didn’t like the student vibe. I was beyond impressed but understood. Miami of Ohio is off the list since since she felt like it was just too isolated. ASU and American are just too far. She really liked Kentucky but now that she is in at Indiana, she said put the deposit down! We are heading there next week for an admitted day but I think this is it!
