CCB - If you had told D that she would have gone with a ball gown she would have told you no way but that is what looks the best on her! She also was very “sure” of what she wanted – until she started trying things on. 
Perhaps your D knows her taste better than my D.
DTE - Hope you feel better. I for one am normally not bothered by allergies and my minor ones are in full swing this year. I do think it is a terrible year!
NM - I keep wondering if I would enjoy it but just don’t have enough time in the day for one more thing!
KMC - Sounds like the book club was fun! My kids are also close by. Not what I had expected but they are and I do enjoy it!

So ---- In keeping with MP I am also changing jobs. Same company but working for a different group. I will be reporting to a director and in a different director to whom my boss now reports. Time for a change! I accepted the position on Friday morning. They came looking for me – I was not looking. Seems like it will be a good move although very high profile.

I haven’t even started to look for my MOB dress! Starting to panic as the wedding is November 3rd! What do you get for a dressy beach wedding?!?!
Yes it’s a new boss. Hopefully one that I get along with better. I know him a bit and I think it will be a better fit.
MOB dress I’ve started looking for next fall. More from the stand point of making sure that I find something that I look good in and hopefully spark me to lose more weight! I will probably order something from a dress shop (bridal shop) but I have seen some at Nordstrum on line that look nice. Not sure exactly what you are looking for.
I think the dresses at Nordstroms look really nice. For a beachy wedding, I guess you would wear something more casual. Are you a Lilly Pulitzer person? I am not, but it is pretty and beachy.
I am trying to learn lessons of self care. this last semester was a … Reason I am sick. Just don’t understand why nurses feel like you have to be flogged to learn. disappointing. I think the allergies make it worse. I am allergic to August generally.
RM so excited for you! I know that job had its issues for you. and MP. See us 'older" people can still do things and well. You would not believe the things people say to me about being in school. But I did get a discount at J crew because I am a student! I think in August they give teachers and students 15 percent off. So buying sale items I got 40 percent off already discounted items and then another 15 percent off.
BTW maybe J crew has beachy MOB dresses I know they have wedding dresses.
ShawD is a very responsible , she would definitely make good decisions. I will still send good vibes for her. My D2 wants to go to Europe for graduation. I do not want her to. I was thinking China???

Well - hold on the celebrations… May not be a done deal yet. Seems like there is another person who MAY be interested – this is of course after last week when they came to me. Well seems like they will make a final decision tomorrow. Seems like I’m first choice but now I wonder if they are just saying that. May be that I’ll end up with out a job at all once this concludes.

So, liner change guys are set to be here for the pool Reno this a.m. Rained all night after I’d pumped the pool like a madwoman to empty it, so there’s a fresh foot of water in the deep end. Hope the rain holds off now or they’ll have to reschedule. Want my pool back!
My poor mom’s been having a rough week. Her boyfriend (live in) had a pulmonary embolism and is on oxygen. Talked to her Sunday about her needing to consider selling the house (all stairs, no main floor master) in favor of something one-floor or condo but she’s in denial and said she didn’t want to think about that for 5 years. He can barely get around now…,not sure she has five years to play with and not sure how she’ll manage him if she doesn’t consider.
She’s been in that house about 38 years now, but a few years back she’d seemed ready to consider downsizing…then she changed her mind. It was around the time we bought what we fondly were calling “the death house” designed to age-in-place. She thought I was a bit premature on that one but after H broke his ankle last year and was still able to work in the adjacent studio etc. she’d commented that she saw the wisdom of both my stair-free and subsequent home studio build-out I wish I lived closer to keep an eye on this situation.

My mother is moving out of her house next week and is miserable about having to pack up and more importantly give away (OK) or throw out (horrible, in her eyes) many of the things she has collected. She has been, with lots of justification, kvetching for at least a month. So, kmc, it wouldn’t be easy.
ShawWife volunteered us to go help her unpack, but I can’t do any of that (no lifting for the rest of the month). Plus, didn’t the doctor say I can’t listen to kvetching (even if it is fully justified) for the rest of the month?
One thing I realized is that both my mother and my brother (especially) have memories, people and places attached to the objects. I do to a lesser extent. So, what I am going to do is take photos of and attach annotation (if I can remember) and save the photos to the cloud and then dump the objects as I go along. Save the memories but get rid of the objects.
We are looking to build the one-level house with adjacent studio for ShawWife but – it has to be on water, in walking distance of a town center, in the Boston area. ShawWife now realizes how much she likes the ready access to the out of doors – she goes cycling, kayaking, hiking or swimming almost every day. Plus, she knows all of the farmers and store owners in our little town and amazingly enough the love her. So, I think we’re staying here except for winters in Sausalito. But, she has lots of allergies to New England and/or our house. So, we’ll have to buy a tear-down and build a green house.
Nordstrom restocked the dress I wanted for D1’s beach wedding! I ordered it this morning and should be delivered in a few weeks. Will keep looking just in case it doesn’t work out.

So I do have the job and doesn’t seem like my old boss it upset which is good because you never know if you are going to end up working with the same people again here on another project.
Maybe I should say “current boss”. Still need all the paperwork to go through but for the next few weeks I will attempt to transition my current job to someone else - still to be named person and start picking up on my new job.

Recovering from a hectic weekend. Drove to Seattle and the family together for my Birthday.
The meal was not very good and the whole experience hectic. 4 yr old G’Son was overtired from way
to long in the pool and he had a melt down. What I am sorry about is that I never got to glow about my nice
people coming together. (of course a free meal goes a long way…). The best part was D’s BF found a really quiet
nice bar where the four of us had a nice martini after.
I want to thank everyone for the information about your cell phone plans. It helped both of us to gain perspective and now have 8 for 4phones. I think it will soon have to go to 10 though. I just cannot see fretting over the $ and want it to stop being an issue. We did tell S that he must separate his bill from ours by the first of the year while remaining on our plan. We hope this encourages him to get it straightened out with his company.

Feeling ready for a big change in my life but have not pin pointed what.
Reading the “tidying” book. It is not really my issue but still has motivated me to purge some drawers and
cupboards. I remember when my Aunt started giving her things away and when my grandparents had very
little left in their house. I understand now that this is just a new phase. I plan on embracing it. Have asked H to read the book while he is visiting his mom for her 95th next week.
