Parents of the HS Class of 2009 (Part 1)

Thanks, #theorymom. There’s no place like home and “mommy magic” when you don’t feel well.

Twins flew into Logan yesterday together from their respective first semesters down south. It’s very nice to have these young adults in the house - who are these kids anyway? I’m sure by the second week of January they’ll be ready to return, but the house is so much warmer with them back in the nest for a while…Happy Holidays all!

yes I have been feeling lousy with a sore throat, headache nd nausea not good for someone who needs to push fluids. perhaps I should check the strep thing, where would I have gotten it? D1 has landed and is on her way home with dad!!!1

Downtoearth! Make sure you take good care of yourself. Don’t let anything slide. Go see the doctor if you need to.

NM–I wondered if any of our D’s have ever worn pantyhose. But puleeze–those spanks are just so much like girdles—just going by a different name.
DtoE–be sure and get well–we will just have to have a sick bay on the bus.

No getting sick allowed DTE! Ellenemope, I hope the meds kick in fast for your daughter–strep is miserable!

ellenmope, I"m sure the mommy magic, home, and some good meds will have her feeling great soon.

DTE–I know seeing you D will help, but please take care of yourself.

I “think” my daughter may have worn pantyhose once for a dance recital. The director really wanted hose and not the heavy dance tights for a particular costume.

dont worry ladies I will check in with the doc. What is the next thing to look forward after Christmas break? D says her spring break is really short. Here is praying all kids get home safe and sound. and good grades or quick solutions.

I’ll need the bus trip if I ever finish everything before Christmas.

I’ll pick up some finger lakes wine. I like a nice sweet wine for sipping in the sunshine. Not that I’m seeing a lot of sun lately. Snowing now. We expect about 4 inches by morning. They say that we will probably have a white Christmas which is always nice.

I’ll also bring some holiday cookies and the spicy crab dip that I make. Might as well go all out. Perhaps some fudge as well – still have to make the for the holidays. Don’t want to make it to soon.

D1 is home out of money, and IPOD and Cell broken some things never change.

Y’all go ahead and wear your jammies and Christmas duds, but personally, I am not going to let George Clooney see me in elastic-waist pants and fluffy slippers.

(Uhmmm, just like I have on right now in front of DH.)

yeah but what is DH wearing?

Take care of yourself downtoearth.

Missypie: Can we talk about the weather?

We’re in California and D is on the east coast–she’s COLD! She waited to buy her first real winter coat (no need for one here). Finally selected one and kind of splurged, thinking it would last, etc. Three days later she went to a fraternity party and checked it in at the coat check…when she came back, it was gone, along with her phone and her ID card which were in the pocket. Went back the next day–no luck. Thought someone would come by (ID card had full name and dorm on it) and bring it back but, since that didn’t happen it doesn’t appear it was an accident. She was so upset…we’ll search after xmas to see if we can get her a replacement…

I bought D a winter coat/parka. She hasn’t worn it. She says she’s dressing in layers, as I told her to do, but she doesn’t “get” that the idea is then to put the coat over it all, and then take it off when you’re inside. The coat is not part of that day’s outfit, but I guess that’s how she must be thinking of it. Oh well. If it gets super cold, I guess she’ll figure it out.

collage1–that is not a happy story! your poor D–so unfair. I would have hoped the thief would have turned in her ID and phone. Hope things turn up.

Antibiotics are working great! What did people do before they were discovered? Just died, I guess…

Terrible news about the stolen coat…

Great news ellemenope! Hope she contimues to improve!

collage1…so sorry someone took D’s coat, id and phone! Bah! Humbug! to them this Holiday Season!

So I couldn’t fall asleep…hope I’m not starting a cycle of insomnia again! Bad time of year for that! So who else is awake???

awake here of course. I am the queen of insomnia. Actually just filled out a form to go to a sleep workshop and then maybe get an actual sleep study done. But I can drive the bus in the wee hours!

collage - That is terrible news. My D actually has a pretty old jacket/coat that she keeps for frat parties. My S up north went to a university-sponsored party at some club and his very expensive winter coat was missing at the end of the night. The club owner picked him up the very next day and bought him a replacement!!
