Parents of the HS Class of 2012 - Original

jaylynn, I suppose there’s no chance that her boyfriend resembles a sloth?

911C2S you owe me a new keyboard! And a Heimlich!

Most Likely to Get Married…oy vey! (I really only posted that so I could edit and reply about sloths.)

Oh Renee! I guess that means she is a romantic (in a good way)? Or in a good relationship?

We used “Most Romantic” to identify the most sexually adventurous among us, since the yearbook advisor wouldn’t let us say biggest slut. My bff won it our senior year. I won biggest flirt, so I guess that made me her almost as bad counterpart.

MizzBee, that was jaylynn’s girl…not mine, I was just responding. Mine has never had any boyfriend believe it or not–college is going to be a bit eye opening I think! She has lots of guy friends, just never a steady boyfriend. She’s gone to dances with every one of her guy friends from band! They usually go in a group, prom is the same story.

Just talked to her after her last day–she said she was awarded both AP English student and AP Biology student of the year awards by her teachers! It doesn’t surprise me. She says she’s going to major in both somehow…

And talk about your overachievers! [Student Graduates High School And College On Same Day | FOX8.com ? Cleveland news & weather from WJW Television FOX 8](http://fox8.com/2012/05/11/student-graduates-high-school-and-college-on-same-day/)

I am not so big into sloths. They actually grow moss on their fur. I did see one in real life in Costa Rica out in a tree in from of somebody’s yard. The coati are the really cute ones, though - sloths creep me out a bit.

To merge exotic animals with nursing . . . just because I can . . .
DS comically wishes that we had a kangaroo because, as he says, “who wouldn’t want to ride around in a pouch and drink milk all day?” The cat got me a kangaroo for Christmas (stuffed and with DS’s shopping help). Now, will it come as any surprise that he wanted nothing to do with the front pack that DD loved and was a “sling baby”?

Congratulations to Renee’s D! I wish that my S could have kept the momentum going, but I think he’s been coasting for a while. He’s quite sloth-like in that respect.

Sorry that I got messed up in that, jaylynn. If it makes you feel any better, winning that guarantees a Turkey Drop breakup. In our hs we didn’t get the yearbooks until the following year and by the time we got them in Thanksgiving, that dream couple had already called it quits.

Glad daughter is OK Disneygals. The 1st accident is always scary (we are waiting on D to have hers).

On summer programs-- D12 did CTY through Hopkins for 7 years

My girl says she didn’t know I paid for a yearbook so she didn’t pick one up. D’oh! She has two AP tests next week, she can pick one up then I suppose.

From your lips to God’s ear, Mizzbee.

“Biggest Slut”. Now THAT would be the most awesome award. Not to win. Just to see. I guess that wouldn’t fly in any school, though. Pity.

I paid for D’s yearbook, but I don’t think I paid for S’s. I still have to pay the sheetmusic fee and a few other things before they could get them anyway. They won’t let you have your yearbook until everything is paid up. I’m excited to see the “baby ad” that I submitted. She will be surprised.

Good to hear from you, mspearl - I’m so glad that things are starting to look up and life is going on despite the hard times.

For summer programs, my D did MathCamp for 2 summers and LOVED it. She really missed MathCamp when she was at RSI last summer. She also did Lac du Bois (French) through Concordia Language Villages for 3 years. This is the first summer she’ll be home for (essentially) the whole summer since 4th grade.

Looking in while working on last-minute housecleaning since the grandparents arrive late tonight for their graduation-season visit.

So happy mspearl is back on the air, and life at her house is getting calmer, from the sound of it.

Glad Disneygals D is OK.

“Biggest slut” is a hoot of an idea. At D’s school they did away with “best couple” this year, after last year’s “best couple” broke up long before the yearbooks came out. Probably best not to have that category.

Me too! We are such wackaloons.

We had “cutest couple” and “biggest flirt” along with best smile, prettiest eyes, most athletic, most likely to succeed, most talented, etc.

Their school now has a biggest slacker award

My new favorite quote, mathinOKC!!!
“Calling kids monkeys has fewer negative connotations than calling them “sloths”. Because being a monkey isn’t a deadly sin?”

That sounds exectly like something DS would say. This is not meant to be partisan or insensitive, just a quip . . . DS came home last night, took off his “onsie” in the family room, started down hall to laudry bin in undies, caught an ear of the news that was on, backtracked to hear better, came into the kitchen for a drink of water (in undies) and offered with a “laugh” in his eyes, “ya if you held me down and tried to cut my hair you wouldn’t remember it tomorrow either.”

hahaha Saintfan! Quite a good wit your son has.

Awwww baby sloths. There was also quite an important sloth in a book I just finished - The Magician King by Lev Grossman… not to be a spoiler!

disneygals: Glad your girls is OK. Scary.

mspearl: Thanks for checking in and I’m relieved to hear life is moving forward for you and yours.

You people are cracking me up with your edit notes.

A little prama here. D’s been texting the unexpected dream boat prom date and they’ve gone out to lunch twice and this afternoon they went on a hike (and stopped by the house first, so I met him for the first time and…OMG: sooooooo handsome and smart and polite and adorable). When she came home, I asked how it went and she said they had fun, but she doesn’t know what he’s thinking…meaning he hasn’t made a move to kiss her. Clearly, he’s fascinated by her…but is he just shy? is he gay? Time will tell!

D, by the way, was voted “most outgoing.” This was a step up from 8th grade when she was voted “best hair” and a step up from 4th grade tennis camp when she won “best listener.”

DS class voted today. He is pretty sure he won Most Spirited. he was nominated for Best Looking and Best Friends with a kid that I seriously doubt he will keep in touch with in 10 years. Still, it is nice to be nominated.
