But, to make things brighter, I would like to nominate confetti for** Parent of the Year** on this thread. Your good vibes and wishes for everyone are amazing, you are like this cheerleader, who always knows what to say to whom. I don’t know how do you keep track ???
Any other nominations?

Dear people, I have received so many private messages in the last few days, I am thankful for all but I do not know what to do and I need advice…I have completely lost my anonymity on this site I know that I have been posting lots of personal info, and at this point people even know how my DS looks like … (Greek - more people than you, so relax, but he is handsome, isn’t he ?)
DS has told me a while ago, that there is no privacy online and that everything you write can be eventually checked and verified. So be it, I say, because I do not lie…
I have been very upfront with the info, because over the years the people that I have learned most on CC were the one that have posted very specific information. And I have a feeling that if I will be posting specific information other people will learn more from my posts. But I also have this desire to not tell you where he matriculates (well, EastGrad will know), get another screen name and start posting as a newbie.
What to do?
And keep those private messages coming, I love your take on things!
But at this point I am dealing with this : last night, DS comes downstairs and says that his friend from this and this college has just messaged me through CC . And he was not the first one :)

So good though to hear about all your news! Congratulation to all.

Kelowna - don’t really know you but obviously you raised a great kid. I hope that you don’t start over with a new screen name just as I am starting to get to know you…

Glad you enjoyed the banana bread - I think I will work the morning shifts on the SS. Planning right now to figure out what I will serve you guys tomorrow.

Oh, and I love confetti’s posts and support your nomination!

I long for the good old (?) days when “on the internet, nobody knows you’re a dog.” Regardless, Kelowna, you should choose as much or as little anonymity as you like. I’ve not been around long, but I’ve enjoyed learning what little I have about your ridiculously talented kid – who, btw, would look fabulous in Duke blue.

SomeOldGuy - you are awesome, I would like to meet up with you at Duke…it might turn out that you are a 40’sh model and I am a bald guy in his late 60’s
And yes, he is ridiculously talented, but in a few short months he is going to leave the nest and I will have nothing else to brag about…WAIT, there is DD’15 who speaks 4 languages ;)

No, seriously, I’m actually a dog. DD’15 sounds amazing. Kid #2 is in the same class; at times I think he speaks in tongues only he understands.

Proud to announce my DS is also a US Presidential Scholar semifinalist! Very proud indeed!! Congrats to Kelowna on that as well, it is a nice honor.

Been keeping up with you all, and so happy for all of the great news, good decisions and suprising twists and revelations. But still have no news to share just yet. Torn between some excellent options, one with big merit aid and the other with a particular draw… Getting a bit stressed. Purple is still my favorite color…

Are ya’ll still serving drinks to us lingering loungers on the deck?

Hay someoldguy and Kelowna…can I stay on the ship with you guys through '15? S15 cannot speak tongues, 4 languages or complete sentences but his sense of humor makes it all worth it! :)

YDS- Forgot to mention, D’s friend loves Carleton. Another loves Grinnell. They both sound wonderful. So glad your D found what she loves!

Kelowna - keeping one’s privacy is a deeply personal thing, so I hesitate to give advice. But I will say that (in the past, on a board about something more sensitive) I have had the same concerns. For me, the friendships and support and strength that I received were worth more to me than full privacy. And I couldn’t really stay truly anonymous and still be who I wanted to be - both with taking support and with supporting others. So, my suggestion to you is that you think about how long you would stay anonymous as a newbie, or how you’d have to change, before you decide.

And, you know we would miss you!

Thank you for the kudos, you warm my heart :). But you know I’m really just echoing what everyone else thinks. Sort of like a scrivener… (word of the day?). LOL

SomeOldGuy - what breed of dog are you?

estee - AWESOME! Such great kids… just wow.

I’m on the '15 boat too – and that’s gonna be quite the ride, 'cause D15 is going on 27!

I’m glad everyone is safe … My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the senseless tragedy in Boston today.

DDHM … as usual, you take the words out of my mouth. our kids were home less than 24 hours when this happened and had spent several days just down the street. Not sure about your son, but my kiddo was texting/messaging all her Boston peeps to make sure everyone was okay. It’s the first time I’ve seen her glued to the TV for news reports. As for moving on, you are correct!! With family that left a communist regime, I understand that we give the perpetrators the power when we change our patterns and actions based on their cowardly actions. Life MUST go on.

18 years since many of us sat with infants in-arms watching the Oklahoma City tragedy unfold. Now, as we wait for our kids to “launch”, we again are watching another tragedy. It’s so, so sad.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who hugged their kid (or kids) a bit tighter today.

Esteemom - Congrats! That’s a proud mama moment!

Was Oklahoma City really 18 years ago?? NOW I feel old, I thought that was yesterday.

Kelowna - I’m new here and certainly in no position to give advice on the privacy issue. I’d miss cheering for your son though. I’m wondering if you have a safety concern from posting here?

Good morning, folks! Let’s try to keep everyone in Boston in our thoughts today while having a nice, normal day stressing over college selections, APs, and the prom.

Random thought: If I posted the link to Cracker’s song “Eurotrash Girl” in the GW thread, would that make me a bad person? Well, I mean a worse person than I already am?
