Parents of the HS Class of 2013

With absolutely no “hook” at all this morning, we bring you Foals’ “Inhaler” as your morning music offering. If you liked Peter Gabriel back in the day, you’ll probably enjoy this one.

All those Disco Skate Parties I went to at the roller rink in middle school in the 1970s are finally paying off…

Hello everyone I am new to the site and had a question. Has anyone been denied a financial aid appeal and pursed another route to try obtain assitance from the school.

I feel like this is the end of the line for us unfortunately but I figured I would put this question out and see if I received any responses.

Jen, there are some real FA pros on the FA forum. I’d post there, with more specifics. Good luck!

Youdon’tsay: Thank you very much for that information and the good luck. I am going to post there now.

privateschool- I was doing the same thing in middle school with my Angle Flight pants on :). I can backward skate but when I need to turn back around it is not pretty :)

Jen- Good Luck with FA!

Good morning all! Happy to serve. Haven’t heard Lemon Drops being served? They are my favorite! Anyone care for a round?

OK, so now i"m sure what Kelowna’s “D” stands for! (I was pretty sure) and I’m counting at least 5 Devil Boys in this group? Are there any Devil Girls?

congrats to all recent decisions!

more drinks, pastries, mashed potatoes, chocolate, and so on for the moms and dad still awaiting their kid’s decisions ;)

i know there is a link posted by confetti about acceptances by our kids, but nothing indicating where kids will be actually GOING to school…anyone think we should add a post with where they’ll be going, in this thread, and just copying it/adding to it with new acceptances when they’re decided? It would be a much shorter list than the one that lists all acceptances…

I am still in a lounge chair waiting for my D’s decision. She has it down to two.

DH told her to take one day and pretend like the decision is for one school, and take the next day and pretend the decision is for the other school. See how you feel at the end of each day, which day were you the most happy, the most excited, the most relieved, the most anxious? I asked her this morning if she was going to do what her dad suggested. She said, “Yes.” Then a few seconds later. “Which one should I pretend to be the choice today?” She can’t even make a pretend decision.

Congrats to Kelowna and YDS and MommyD on the latest decisions. We were at an admitted students day yesterday, and best advice of the day for my D was: Make your decision and don’t look back. It was a wonderful day, even if she picks the other school.

Greetings everyone! I’m going to need something strong (but not alcoholic). D13’ went on her admitted students tour of two cities, two Universities in 48+ hours. This was such a step for me as a parent ,considering just two years ago I got nervous with her just going around the block by herself. Here she was hitting two major cities, changing planes, taking buses, and doing it all on her own at 16. Long story short, she has fallen in LOVE with C O L U M B I A! She texted me on day two of her stay and said that was the place for her! It’s bittersweet in that she had visited U C H I C A G O and liked it and frankly could see herself there. We had a problem with FA (as in not enough). She went to New York with an open mind, and felt it was everything she was looking for. She got back early this morning and was welcomed with the news that C H I C A G O had upped her FA package so it essentially matches C O L U M B I A. D13 is sold on C O L U M B I A and is ready to push the button. Is it strange that I have this sad feeling for the hard work and support C H I C A G O has given her? They were just so wonderful to her. Saying no will be so difficult. On the other hand “Roar Lion Roar” it looks like we have a Columbian!

Good morning cruisers! What do we have? Seven days left? Today’s special is a Lemon Drop (Wherenext’s suggestion) and a fun Watermelon Martini. Of course Kelowna is serving her Chardonnay.

No real news here. After procrastinating away his spring break DS was up until about 1AM finishing an English project. Ugh.

I definitely think we need to have a list here for the decisions. I will start:

Tx5athome’s DS: Cal

Who’s next?

@sameoldguy, thanks for that Foals video. We are currently resurfacing our pool and H and I are debating what the color should be. He wants dark, I want light. I sent him this video as a suggestion. Haha.
Congrats Tvenee, go Lions!

(copy the most recent list and add your SN, in alphabetical order, numbers last, and D/S’s school s/he will attend)

Final College Decisions :D

Wherenext - I’ll take one of those lemon drops while I practice my roller disco moves during “all skate”. Difficulty level has been raised having to balance this drink tray.

Congratulations TV! That’s awesome that your D is so happy with her decision.

Everyone, do you think it would be better to start a separate thread for Final Decision 2013?

I think keeping it in here will hit the regular posters, with whom I have enough trouble keep up without adding all of cc …
