Mornin’, all. And mind yourselves on the deck now that we’ve got all these roller skaters moving about. We’d hate to see anyone go overboard with that kind of momentum. To make sure everyone is wide awake this morning, we’ve got plenty of hot coffee and a set of guitar-heavy music. Enjoy!

FWIW regarding shirts, my kid took off for school today wearing the shirt for a college he visited but will not attend. But the mascot is a squirrel, and the shirt is really cool.

yeah, I am kinda wanting to buy the t-shirts of the “deposited” school and the “waitlist” schools…just to have “in case”…but, I don’t want to upset the apple cart. It IS moving…slowly…in the right direction!
can’t wait to get off the lounge chair and onto those skates!

Finally getting caught up with my reading here. I love the list. Will add to it in a separate post.

Going way back to post 23150 to answer Q’s:

wherenext, toughs, laurendog: re: D’s orchestral piece… I wish I could let everyone hear her piece. Unfortunately, we only have the rights to the music, not the performance. The local PBS program that is doing a show on the students and the concert should air their show soon and I can send some info. then.

confetti247 - Yes, she’s studying film. She does compose mostly for her films, but it’s definitely second place to her filmmaking passion.

Grad Parties: I think I’ve touched on this subject before, but this is what has been occupying a lot of my time lately. I’m actually planning D’s home school graduation and open house. I am putting together a slide show and ordering the diploma/cap gown. Just picked up the announcement/invitation and they will be going out in the mail this week.

Accepted student days: So sad to have missed D’s. Too far, not enough time and wanting to save $ and airline miles kept us from going. At least D is connecting through the school accepted student chats and website.

D also found a roommate through the school’s social media page. I’m very happy that’s done. She found someone she thought she could get along with and I told her to make the request soon before someone else did. She went on the housing site and found that the girl had requested her.

Decision was finally made as the last school we visited made the best impression! DS heading to Minnesota – he loved the cold weather when we visited (6 1/2 inches of snow in mid-April!!!). The parents would have loved Miami but oh well – the frigid cold/snow trumped the heat and sun!!!

Congrats! There are a lot of great things going on at the U, though in true Scandinavian fashion, they don’t promote themselves as well as they should. And Minneapolis is a great place to live, snow notwithstanding.

Yes, we loved the city and the transportation system (the light rail will be running through the University next year). DS felt it was the right place for him and the University did all they could to woo him

We figure we will be making many visits in the next 4 years. It will be a new city to explore just like Pittsburgh was 5 years ago :)

Good morning cruisers! With all the great news, today’s cocktails have a champagne theme. We have a Champagne Cocktail (+ sugar cube, bitters, lemon wedge), Mimosa (+ orange juice), French 75 (+gin, lemon juice, sugar) and for our adventurers a Black Velvet (+ stout).

I love the list! Since so far no one else is at S3’s school, at least there are quite a few going to Pac-12 schools that I can root against.
