Longhaul, not only have we looked at Caltech & MIT … D was admitted to both. Feel free to pass on my info.

tougis - lol on Assassination. Perhaps it’s good I don’t know about it.

All those feeling bad about U Chi - they rejected S13, so they’re not perfect ;). Feel free to be slightly outraged at them about that.

LOL finalchild. S13 has a teacher who attended U Chi who told him “You’re too normal for U Chicago.” And it turns out that they seem to feel the same. He got deferred in EA, so I guess he did have slightly better than a snowball’s chance… :D. S13 was also a Waldo.

D15, on the other hand, is not in the slightest normal. So who knows? Perhaps the shirts will come in handy. We have no others - that’s the only place S13 wanted to buy a shirt other than ND.

So, I missed the end of S13’s graduation party at his orchestra to race out to D15’s school for her choir concert, which was beautiful. However, she was in full teenaged form afterward and I drove home feeling bad - and orchestra is virtually done after two years of Saturdays - and I just feel very melancholy.

Okay, I posted too soon. Got a very nice text from D15 and am feeling much better :). Parenting away from home sure is different!

Finalchild- LMOA!!! Your Uchicago comment killed me!

carimama-smarty pants daughter! Did she decide? Olin was on the table too right?

TV-If it weren’t for the cancelled flights, delays and 36 degrees in April, D may have still been “in a relationship” with UChicago :)… It was that close. Love your analogy!

Apollo- My friend went to boarding school in Wales…She loved it and ended up staying in the UK for University as well. Warm weather bugs her now.

confetti- Not feeling so bad for UC now…grrrr! There was a college asked if D would change her application from RD to ED. She said no and then they said no. D is fine with it, I am not, and it is now the school that shall not be named :)

The good karma worked. Thank you all! MIL made it through the surgery just fine. I’m headed to the hospital now to relieve my SIL. DS13a can’t get to a computer fast enough to pull the trigger. I predict my next post will be an official announcement.
That will still give me two days to serve those still waiting. I have pretty killer waitressing skills so I can balance enough drinks on one tray for everyone still waiting. How many of your are still undecided?

That’s great news! We will continue to send good thoughts up your way. But I’m a little worried about DS13a. If he can’t find a computer THERE, he may not be looking very hard.

Confetti captured the melancholy mood well this morning, so the dog and I will just start you off with a cautionary tale about the call you never want to get from your kid.

^^SOG-- good thing he’s not planning on studying computer science!

Thanks to those who have joked about U Chicago, especially TV and confetti. It’s been hard for me to let go of that one, though D barely thought twice about it once her decision was made.

For those still in lounge chairs, I’ve pulled out the espresso machine. Very strong, thick, espresso with a twist of lemon, for those of you who may need your wits about you today.

Good luck, all!

I just started to look at websites to create my own graduation announcements. I’m not finding what I want, but I need something that is user friendly. Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried TinyPrints.com. I want a layout where I can have a flat card with a photo and writing on both sides.

Love the twist of lemon Lizzie.

I have slices of fresh baked quiche and fresh fruit out on the deck, SS. Buffet style today.

@ GreekM - try PurpleTrail.com.

Good morning Cruisers! So today’s special is “Mama Walker’s Breakfast Liqueurs” (they come in three flavors, Maple Bacon, Blueberry Pancake and Glazed Donut). If you think I am making it up, google it. The truth is stranger than fiction. I will add some pancakes from the fundraiser pancake breakfast I am off to.

Greek: Continued “get well” wishes to your MIL. Congratulations on a “pretty-much-for- sure-if-I-can-just-find-the-button” decision!

Happy Sunday!!

I can’t keep up with this thread but has anyone explained why some posters put spaces between the letters of the college name or acronym? I noticed it again in post 24296.

GreekMana – My D used vistaprint.com She uploaded pictures, added text and says she could have put text on the back too if she had wanted. Seemed to be pretty user-friendly.

momofthree – Generally people add spaces or rogue characters in college names so that those posts won’t show up in a general search by the college name.

Ah thanks Stem, although Google will put the word back together e.g. t u f t s becomes Tufts, c h i c a g o becomes Chicago and so on.

…which is why, I think, some posters will type a school like R U 7 Ge R $, or similar, to try and confuse google :)

Wow Momofthree I should have realized that with google. I initially wasn’t spacing the name until I saw others doing it and thought the logic behind it made sense. I try and practice what I preach. I tell my kids to never put anything on the internet they don’t want the whole world to see. The colleges I’ve posted about I’ve only spoken of in a positive light and will continue to do so.
I’m now a server! I’ve never been a formal waitress, but I have 16 years of homemaker experience ,and I’ve felt like one, so there’s that. Since we’ve finally got a few days of sun in my area I’m offering sweet tea (Grandma’s specialty).

our2girls, much depends on your activity and your IP address what google returns even if you use a symbol. Alot of websites are indexed. But as far as general safety on the internet, don’t use the same username for everything and change your passwords frequently. Use a combination of caps and lower case numbers and symbols.

What do you advise for the bleary eyed. Worked the after prom party at my son’s school and I cannot seem to get it in gear today. Staying up until 5 a.m. is not for the faint of heart. :). I am happy to report that there were probably over 1,000 kids at the school for after prom without one single incident. It was so wonderful to see all these kids just having a great time.

Off for my second triple shot latte of the day! :D. Bedtime can’t come soon enough…

p.s. The mother of my son’s date told me that prom was the first time her daughter had been on a date in her life. IMHO (verrrrry biased), she picked the right young gentleman
for her first date.
