<p>MSNDS, our best friends’ oldest is a freshman at GW after hoping, for much of his life, to attend Georgetown, where his father went. He COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. I don’t think there’s a school in the country that’s more politically engaged. Gangs of kids run to the White House to catch a speech, fly off to various states to work on campaigns, hang out in DC and go to movies, you name it. Awesome experience he’s having.</p>

Congrats!! Love to see GW here. My older D is finishing her junior year and is just thrilled with the school and DC and opportunities. Bad part is she never comes home in the summer (to NE). Too many opportunities for her there.</p>
<p>You are correct many on even this site and other CC threads love to knock GW. Don’t listen to them. 99% of them have no direct experience to draw on. When my D started I had my concerns but in short order I knew it was a perfect fit for her.</p>
<p>Even as far as cost, one awesome GW fact is locking in tuition at the same rate for four years. Seems like nothing but with schools tuition hikes at 3-5% per year, it adds up. Good deal (well its all relative) paying 2010 rates into 2014 graduation!! If you have any detailed questions PM me.</p>

<p>D is in her last Tuesday of high school. Senior finals are Friday and Monday. This is tough on me (perfect music choice SOG), D is thrilled. :)</p>

<p>DS made his decision on the 24th but I wanted to make sure he did not change his mind before posting here. Short story: we provided background and faded out the week prior. DH made me vow not to bring up the subject. On the morning of the 24th DS said nothing…left for school (holding my breath all day–cleaning like a madwoman to destress) I was literally sea sick guys. DS returned home from track by 4:30p…said nothing…(by then I was certain he was going to say he was joining the military or not going to college at all)…at 10:38pm DH has gone to bed…DS hits the button!! Tears of joy (yet melancholy over turning down other great opportunities</p>

Still keeping fingers crossed that he can get off the waitlist at ND or Vandy in the next few weeks, but he is content with UW-Madison. He was offered a scholarship from their College of Engineering, which is unusual for a freshman. </p>
<p>So glad the drama is over…it won’t be nearly this much heartache and drama with DD for 2016!!</p>
<p>DS just mailed his graduation announcements! Reality is hitting me hard!! So happy and excited for him but as he is our “only” I am a bit sad too.</p>
<p>The list keeps getting greater! Makes me want to go back to college! </p>
<p>We created DD’s grad party invitations last night - she invited her “friends” on facebook - went through the list and started checking them off - it totalled 191! She promised me that most of them won’t come!!! That’s not to mention the families that we will invite. It is an “open house” so hopefully we will only get about 1/3 of the people she “invited”. So the kids get the invite via facebook and we send a normal invite to parents and families. Anyone else do it this way?</p>

<p>Good morning cruisers!!! Wow! Such great choices!! And great music selections! The bar is open and you can have absolutely whatever your heart desires! I have to say my legs are looking great with all of this rollerskating! Good luck to everyone still in the lounge chairs. A good friend’s son is stuck between Cornell and Cal, she says if he doesn’t decide she is going to decide for him.</p>
<p>Well I think the dime dropped for DD13 yesterday… for any youngsters that means she now understands… like many I’m sure - DD13 has been really snarkey whenever I mention college. Yesterday she was sitting next to me on a Lounger as I was puttering with potting soil and she was telling me she thinks she should apply this July to the German medical school rather than wait until next year - which I said made sense and I said this is such a big decision because so many parents on CC have said so many people plant their lives where they go to college or they meet their husband and go to his home town so I you go to a German university you’ll likely fall in love in Germany and stay there…if you go to UC Davis maybe you’ll stay in Northern CA. </p>
<p>I looked up at her and tears were streaming down her face… Why are you crying?.. I don’t know… but, we both know. She just realized she’s grown up and is choosing her life’s path. I can’t type now…I have a lump in my throat.</p>
