Thanks mamabear, I was feeling left out! I leave the country and you all drop me off the lists!!! I think maybe since I end up posting in the middle of the night US time, my posts seem to be from the prior day and get over looked. Anyway, you fixed it! Thanks!!!

YDS, Since you mentioned Texas, I will add my protegee’s decision to attend Trinity University in San Antonio! I did’t want 3triplets to be the only one with three at once!

And I’m pretty sure there is someone for UNC but they haven’t posted and I can’t remember… Maybe SOG remembers because he told them he could no longer be friends…

24384

LOL Greek - that’s one way to remember.

Happy May Day everyone. Getting ready for the party and bonfire tonight :)

24385

UNC is my daughter. Though SOG and I are good friends, just enemies for life, obviously. Congrats to one and all!

Good morning, cruisers! It appears that we’ve docked overnight, and oh my the views are beautiful!

No matter which island your child landed on, it’s COLLEGE, and today is a great day to celebrate. However, I think I got confused about this tee-shirt tradition, and my co-workers are looking at me funny because I’m wearing a 20-year-old “CAMERON CRAZIES: OUR HOUSE!” shirt. At least I didn’t follow through with the blue face paint.

Poetgrl…GO CAROLINA! Love that place (plus Duke gets plenty of love here).

24390

Well, anyone who loves a big dog is a friend of mine. :)

No, seriously, congratulations, even to the Cameron Crazies.

Go Heels!

24391

With my older D UNC was my one wild card - the school I said please for me just apply there. She thought I was crazy and when she didn’t get in OOS it didn’t faze her in the least…crushed me though. HA! I had to get over it but glad you are representing the Heels poetgrl!

24392

Well, DD is wearing her Tshirt for the “deposited” one-that-remains-nameless-for-fear-of-the jynx…(I really can’t wait till this is over!----which it is, really…but what can I say). She had one big meltdown yesterday. No AP studying either. I think it is beginning to hit her that she is really “leaving”…but, she has never been one with a lot of words…so, she is just all bundled with nerves! I also think she is beginning to like the "deposited one’…and is beginning to question the WL’d one…so that is adding (and helping) to the angst.

24393

Congrats on all the decisions!! What an amazing group of young adults!! Makes me feel better about our future:)
DS took his last DE final yesterday so he will start UF in the fall with 33 credits! Now we have prom this Friday and then AP tests next week. Graduation here is May 31!

24394

drmom, I’m sure you know this-- but here are tips for “working the waitlist.”
[Tips for working the wait list | College Admissions Strategies](http://www.collegeadmissionsstrategies.com/2013/04/tips-for-working-the-wait-list/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+CollegeAdmissionsStrategies+(College+Admissions+Strategies))

24395

I’m glad to see my D isn’t stressing over AP tests this year. She will have to take math and foreign language placement tests at her college anyway, English Lit won’t affect anything, and she should be fine for Psych, so the scores are mostly for her satisfaction.

She did not wear her T-shirt today, it wasn’t clean and she said it didn’t matter!

24396

We have quite an impressive list of acceptances! Now that it’s May 1st, we can say we can’t believe how fast the time went. ;)

But while we were in the thick of things, it sure seemed to drag.

Just received the first RSVP for the grad party this morning. Grad announcements were part of the senior picture package, and we are very happy with the way they turned out. Three years ago I made them myself, and that was labor intensive.

Prom this weekend, dance recital next weekend, graduation and party in June, plus registration for classes. Then I think I will take a breather.

24397

Did everyone see the thread about the article about CC at the Chronicle of Higher Education?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1499879-cc-discussed-todays-chronicle-higher-education.html</a>
And here’s a link to the article
[College Confidential: A Field Guide - Students - The Chronicle of Higher Education](<a href=“College Confidential: A Field Guide”>College Confidential: A Field Guide)

HMFR, which I think originated on this thread, got a mention.

24398

My D wore her school’s T-shirt to school today because everyone else was going to as well… I never heard of this tradition before…and here you are, talking about it too! Seems kind of an obvious tradition now… Where have I been?

24399

I hope I’m not just a big downer, but I think there are some misconceptions about the waitlist. When your kid turns down a school, it doesn’t mean some kid from the WL gets in. The schools build in a number of rejections into their projections. People are getting paid big bucks to manage a school’s yield. They know, roughly, that 60% of kids are going to take them up on their offer, so if they want a class of 600, they accept a class of 1,000. It’s not like for every 400 kids who decline their offer a kid comes off the WL. Sometimes they’re off a bit, and that’s when they go to the WL.

This is why I’m realllly concerned about those who are counting on getting in off a WL. I let ds1 stay on a WL but told him that he was not to give the school another thought as getting off the WL at this school was pretty rare. It’s time to embrace the schools who have shown you the love!!!

24400

Hey 'rents!

I’m actually really sick and have been home since yesterday morning. Per doctor’s orders, I’m not allowed to go back to school until Friday…which is fine by me!

I have gotten SO much done thus far this morning, though! I emailed the eight schools I will not be attending telling them so. Of course, the three emails I received back first were from Emerson, Hofstra, and Quinnipiac-my top three choices. Ugh! Either way, I’m happy with my decision to attend UConn.

I also started shopping for my dorm…too soon? I think NOT.

It sounds like everything’s going pretty well for everyone!

HAPPY MAY FIRST!

(one month and twenty seven days until graduation…)
