EastGrad - I would think that the date doesn’t like to wear flowers. How about getting a small bouquet of roses or mixed spring flowers and take them to her - that way she can put them in a vase to enjoy later (or at least her mom can enjoy them :))

All girls like flowers
In my humble opinion!!!

@EastGrad - I can’t imagine she does not want a corsage (or like your DH nicely put it a few years back - a “vegetable”, on her wrist
I would definitely inquire more, not much time left to order…

@ pouncecat2 - while I maybe would not be calling every few hours, I would definitely try to find out what the expected date of notification is? When does she have to commit to Germany? I would not want my kid to go through the application process again next year…

pouncecat2- don’t bail. Call or email your contact at UCD and tell them your deadline so that they know you have to have an answer on the deferral.

pounce, could you get the GC to call? He/she might have more success.

Greek - how is Greece? How is your MIL doing???

This wheel is definately squeeking…unfortunately only DD13 can hear me. Parents can’t call, right? That’s so hard… I know she’s 18 and all, but seriuosly. All good ideas here. Sad to say we were not blessed with an awesome GC so no help there. They said they would tell her by 5/1… well that ship sailed. Waiting to hear from DD13 by text whether she’s hear or not.

I wouldn’t have a problem calling myself. They’ve busted deadline, and time’s a ticking.

I would also call myself at this point in the game…

Yay, STAMum, first waitlist acceptance for our list that I’ve seen. Congrats–what a school!

Pouncecat, I also think you should call yourself. Just remember that Pleasant and Squeaky are equally important. Wheel not so much. :)

Kelowna, we have a local florist who will do a wrist corsage as a walk-in on Saturday a.m. Happy to share info. Still debating… especially since I agree with Ashmuoh. Who doesn’t like flowers? Or vegetables?

Happy weekend, everyone. Hope your weather is lovely.

Congrats to STAmum for DD getting of the waitlist to Sarah Lawrence! Now that USS Indecision has docked, and we are off our lounge chairs and not longer serving drinks, we still get to look forward to hearing such good news over the next month or so!

Today we have a miracle! (No it’s not an answer on the deferral - unfortunately) But a miracle all the same! DD13 needed a TB test for Germany- so she went to the Health Department three days ago… was supposed to return today for the reading…but was sending another email to you-know-who when she realized it was 4:00 pm. Oh no! Health Department closes at 4! So she drove over to our Urgent Care in hopes they would read it and at least record the result in her on-line record. Nope. Oh no! So she’s driving home and passes by the Health Department and decided to just go in even though she knew she was too late. There was a nice nurse waiting there for HER! She has a note from the nurse who had injected her test saying DD would be in so she just waited! WOW!!! So happy! So relieved!

Wasn’t sure if you can just redo that TB test if you don’t get it read - Just have to say nurses are awesome!

Congratulations on the recuses from the waitlists!

See miracles DO happen!

DD13 has made a decision - she’s going to Germany even if she has to re-apply. Boy, I hope she doesn’t have to go through that again. It’s one of those things she gets to decide and live with the consequences, or rather I should say adapt to the change of plans.

As the kids say these days - First world problems.

STAmum, congrats on Sarah Lawrence! I guess our kids won’t meet at Wheaton (if that was the deposit school).

pouncecat- There are so many nice people in the world. I choose to focus my energy on them!

10,000 posts! Intparent, you missed the entire cruise! No wonder you’re looking a little pale compared to our collective golden glow. A big congrats on Harvey Mudd, among other terrific things, #1 on return for investment.

Had a lovely time at ds’s sports banquet, and, in a surprise, he was named to an all-district team! He didn’t even start most games, so that’s a puzzler, but thank you, district coaches!!!

Saw on its forum that Carleton is not going to its waitlist. Has anyone gotten an e-mail with that info from any schools?
