Okay, I’ve been gone too long again :(

Last band concert and awards night, awards breakfast… S13 got the award I wanted for him, so I’m happy :). He’s got a community band concert tonight, and another gig tomorrow – hope he can sleep this weekend!

drmom - funny how they have growing pains, isn’t it? And sometimes we can step in and sometimes not. I’d probably push her to check the email and give you the info. If you’re providing financial support for college, you have a reason to know.

Plus, what is it with pencils and standardized tests? I think we have pencil-gnomes that remove them all two days before!

pigmom - S13 has a double comforter on his twin bed now, and it works well. Dollar store here has stuff like desk caddies, extension cords, post-its, stapler, paper clips, shower curtains, hand towels, hang-on-the-door hooks/caddies/shoe holders… some of them are not one dollar, but all of them are reasonable.

Greek - it’s good to know your kids have foibles too ;). Congrats on the finalist status!

Kennedy - lol, congrats? Definitely on the science fair and scholarship!

It’s not about getting out early, though, is it? It’s about getting the most out of the four years! Of course, it’s also not about getting out LATE!

SOG - I hope you’re right on the barbel. S13 wasn’t thrilled with the BC test.

hang in there megpmom - your house will sell brilliantly! And, think of this: what if he’d remembered tomorrow??

tx5 - same question, what if he’d asked about the book tomorrow? (lol)

TVenee - how sweet of her!

re: driving - we did parking lot until I was comfortable with turns, both curves and sharp. Then we did local streets and backing out of driveways. When that was good (20 hours or more) we did medium highway (like the truck routes that are state highways but still have stoplights). Then interstate. He was well over 50 hours before we did downtown Chicago. But he was a very comfortable driver and probably could have done it sooner.

S13 has 4 APs next week… and two concerts. Better heavy the second week, I guess, but still I wish they were spread out more. All of his tests can get him credit, and since he’s planning to double-major, the fulfillment of requirements is more important than the hours.

surf - Monday will be bad, and he’s only got Phys B (first time I’m glad about that!). Then just Gov and Macro.

I know what S13 plans to do in class - finish his final composition :D

The kids don’t have to take the AP tests. They have to take a practice test administered by the teacher (all with at least two time slots before AP week), which is counted as the last big test, and some who administer more than one will let you replace another test grade with a practice AP grade if it helps. This is far more useful to juniors, of course. Seniors don’t have to take finals if they have As, so it kind of depends on the teacher. Tests are not subsidized.

I think they have to stay at school, but not sure because S13 has been doing so much concert prep that he wouldn’t come home anyway.

SomeOldGuy - I hadn’t realized that paying for AP tests was getting me in shape for the next 6 to 10 years of check-writing. I feel SO much better now!

Wow, College4K! It’s really happening . Enjoy the fashion show!

DDHM - love the driving grandma idea. If I ever let D15 drive, I’ll use it (another ). Fortunately she isn’t interested yet. S13 could still use that idea.

We could also use the Money Tree seeds. But a tuition garden is not a bad idea.
