I am not tech savvy and am totally disoriented by these changes. Ugh!

We are disappointed that S14 appears to be out if the running for USC merit scholarships. It is his top school. S11 attends with no merit money, so the financial commitment for two is gargantuan. We just have to be patient and see how it all plays out.
Initiate Launch is right about community scholarships . I am beating the bushes looking for them . S14 has applied for 20 so far. He already has one for a $1000 and hopefully will net several more by May. We knew a boy in S11s group who got $27000 for local groups. You just have to make slight revisions to a basic essay to fit their criterion in most cases.
Keep the faith everyone!

Why did you say that your S14 is out of contention? He didn’t receive the portal’s status change? From what I’ve heard they came in batches. So it’s possible that they will have more tomorrow. Some reported their status have changed on Friday night, but my D only had hers Saturday morning. D haven’t received any packet yet, but we’re hoping she’ll receive it this week and hoping that she’ll be invited for a scholarship interview. Like you, w/o scholarship, it will be hard for her to pick USC against any UC that she applied.

Minnymom - my D also appears not to have received a USC merit scholarship, and she received a no from the Town & Gown one this week as well. That probably rules out USC for us. We kind of knew that the stars and planets - including financial, academic, and musical - would all have to align to make USC do-able, and it appears they are not going to cooperate!

Perhaps I’ve missed it, but when you all talk about USC is that Southern California or South Carolina? I grew up in California and the Trojans are what I always think of when I hear USC but around here people use it to mean the Gamecocks.

2014 novamom - we do mean U of Southern California. We got word (via CC of course) that merit scholarship packets were mailed on Friday & many applicants are seeing changes in their online status. My D is not seeing any change currently

Thanks @CT1417 for pointing out the location of past posts as replies on the left hand side of the screen. I can see this now on my laptop, could not find on mobile web version on my smart phone. The old CC app isn’t working probably due to the website changes. I spent 99% of my CC time on the mobile app and loved the easy access.

Thanks 4breadrolls for pointing me to the right direction. I see it now.
By the way, how do you hyperlink the screen names within the body of the text?

@momofwon it took about 24 hours for my change of notification settings to “stick” and for me to stop getting all the emails. Hopefully you’ll also stop getting them soon. I do like that if someone hyperlinks you (using @ + your user name) you can get a notification that someone mentioned you – I left that one turned on for email.

@2016BarnardMom I’m finding it hard to see who posted as the usernames are much smaller and less prominent. I think avatars will help with that. Use something symbolic, so you won’t care if people post it to facebook. Or maybe we should all make avatars that are just bigger, more readable versions of our usernames Maybe I’ll switch to that. (<-- ETA: done)

I thought about using a pic of the big Barnard balloon thing they had on the gates when we moved my D in. Then people would realize it was me easier? Or maybe I’ll make a graphic that says BarnardMom?

I like the idea of using the name as an avatar. Since I am technologically challenged, how did you do that? I tried to do it on Word but it says it has to be a jpg or others.
