Congrats to your D @go2mom! That’s fantastic news!

Wow! @gotomom! Congrats to GotoGirl!

Congrats @go2mom! Thrilling news. We visited Vanderbilt once on a vacation, but DS 14 never applied. We parents loved it and loved Nashville.

If you filed your FAFSA before the taxes were filed (as I did), you have to go back to the FAFSA site and change your tax filing status from “Will File” to “Already Filed” or something similar to that. You will then be asked how long ago you filed and if more than a couple of weeks, you can use the IRS retrival tool wich will automatically update/correct your FAFSA and resubmit it to schools on your list. (Note - I tested the IRS retrieval system by saying yes although it was only a few days after I filed the kid’s returns and they were found and FAFSA’s were updated so two weeks may not be required in all cases.)

CSS is a bit different as I recall as I do not believe you can submit any changes. If your school(s) want IDOC, you will submit your tax forms and other requested documents to the IDOC processing center and the schools will receive them which should then act as the update. You may also be asked by some schools to submit tax form copies or IRS transcripts directly to the school’s FA office. Each school is a bit different with their process.

Good luck with your filing and submittals.

BarnardMom - congrats on the good news from the job front!

go2mom - Congrats to go2girl on the Ingram! That’s a fabulous accomplishment. She should be so proud of what she has achieved. Has she also received her formal acceptance or do you have to wait until late March with the rest of the RD pool?

The 2014 SS Indecision sails in 40 days!

Congratulations @go2mom!! Holding breath for Cornelius Vanderbilt scholarship notifications. Based on last year, that should come out in the next two weeks or so.

Wow big congrats Go2Mom!! that’s such an accomplishment! fellow Vandy mom here, also waitig on CV scholarship.

Congrats BarnardMom2016! Love to hear us Moms making our own way too!

@go2mom - Congratulations to you and go2girl!!! You must be overjoyed! What an amazing accomplishment!

@onlyonemom - I am glad to hear that you were able to get a loaner for your trip to UVM. I hope it is a productive trip for both you and MathMomVT since we only have 40 days left until the Indecision sails as AvonDad reminded us:).

@akmom124 - congratulations on D’s Elks Scholarship. If your D is anything like mine, selecting a prom dress in one afternoon also merits congratulations.

@momreads - D had one of those “professor complex” teachers. Ugh! I still remember the first time I encountered that teacher in 8th grade Algebra 1. Until that class, math was my favorite subject. I managed a low A only because my parents hired a great tutor. Most of the class ended up with a C or D (and straight As in their other classes). There is just no point to that mentality.

@go2mom, that is great news for go2girl.

@go2mom - Wow! Must be some celebrating going on in the go2 household! Congratulations, what an incredible achievement!!

@AvonHSDad - Thanks for the advice! Didn’t get to the paperwork as planned today. So good to hear you were able to use the IRS retrieval tool after only a few days, as initially I had been holding off trying, as we only filed last week. Will hopefully get it done tomorrow.

Mrspepper: In all fairness to the teacher, my son pointed out that he knew on the first day of class what the teacher required – a 90 or better in the class. Other teachers at his school may have been a little more forgiving, but most of those teachers take a hard line. At least the kids know up front. This particular teacher has been at it more than 20 years, and she is just outstanding. And she loves my son to death, too! She stops him regularly to see how things are. She was thrilled with his college choice, because she knows he loves to run. At least with math, things are pretty cut and dry. He had an APUSH teacher who seemed to play favorites, and his average in that class was nearly a 90. Yes, he got a B there, too, and a 4 on the exam. He was pretty convinced that she graded him down on some things just so he did not get the A. He’s had other teachers who do round up – like AP English. Did his junior year hurt his GPA? Yes, it did, and it took him out of the running for several big-time scholarship opportunities at some southern schools. But he just wants to finish up strong this year and go to college. It’s time, he says.

WAY 2GO Go2Girl - Congratulations! Woot! Woot!

@go2mom - Congratulations! That is really a fantastic accomplishment! I’m sure you are all over the moon.

I’m hoping May 1 we can all add to this thread and just tell everyone where our kids will be attending.

@go2mom – So happy for go2girl! She’s very deserving. Now you can go on your trip and have no worries!

Congrats go2mon. My D go the news we have been waiting for. She has been accepted into Ohio State’s Biomedical Science program. It is a small, 22 students, undergraduate program out of Wexner. Much happiness in our house today.

@murmur - Congratulations! So great to hear all the good news coming in!

yup, it is so nice to hear all this good news! Let the good news spread around! Here is to our kids and their success in the future!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. go2girl presented me with a “Vanderbilt Mom” t-shirt. Made it all the sweeter. I don’t think it has really sunk in yet. She realizes that this is truly an incredible opportunity. @murmur–congrats on your good news! And to all of you, I so appreciate all of your support–it means a lot.

@crowlady Information Security. I was an Occupational Therapist in adolescent mental health for 13 years. Hospitals were closing programs and I was worried I was going to end up jobless or working in an area (physical rehab) that wasn’t my first choice. Computers had become a hobby so I took some online courses to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. I took an entry level IT job with the same health system where I’d been working as an OT. As HIPAA came around, we had to focus more and more on security and I was fascinated with that aspect of the job so I decided to get a Master’s degree in it. After several of the courses required for my Master’s, I took a certification exam to get one of the more desired security certifications in IT. After that, I was able to land a job as an IT auditor which ultimately led to a position in a different industry (not non-profit health care) as a Senior Security Analyst. I was so shocked and overwhelmed by this promotion and raise that I don’t remember my new title. I should probably look that up again
I keep telling people- if you have a computer science kind of kid, I strongly recommend they look into Information Security/Assurance. It is a HOT field and that is NOT going to change for a long time. It’s fascinating too- trying to stay one step ahead of the hackers all the time.

@go2mom What fantastic news! You must be so proud and you both must be so excited! That is truly amazing.

We’re in a holding pattern for at least another 4 to 5 weeks here. Just waiting… and waiting… and waiting. Then the SS Indecision. So much is riding on those acceptances… one school acceptance will make the decision a no brainer but it is a lottery school. The others are all much closer in the race and will make for a difficult time on that cruise.
