@momreads - congratulations to your son! Both of them!!!

@ChyrsanthMum, I am looking forward to hearing how your daughter’s robot does at the tournament. Good luck!

@ChyrsanthMum, I am looking forward to hearing how your daughter’s robot does at the tournament. Good luck!

Senioritis has hit here. Her grades last semester were better than they had ever been, mostly because she’s only taking classes that interest her. With only half a year of math and no science, she’s able to load up on English, history and music.

D14 assumes she’ll be going to one of the schools she’s already been accepted to, and is not very anxious about hearing from the rest. For now, it’s good that she knows she’s going somewhere.

D15 is my robotics kid. It’s always interesting to see how well the robot ends up working. She’ll have an entirely different senior schedule, skipping the history and doing only required English to load up on science, math, and CS.

@momreads - congrats to your son and hope he is back to feeling himself for states! And congrats to your older son also!

@ChyrsanthMum - good luck to your daughter in the tournament!

@momreads - Wow! What a great day! Congratulations to both Ss on their accomplishments!

@chrysanthMum - it is nice to hear of girls excelling in robotics. I will be cheering for your D to win the tournament!

Surprise acceptance today to Clark University (Worcester, MA). Was not expecting that decision to come out for a few more weeks. Hooray for options!

Congrats @Mlmama! My husband and I are Clarkies and it’s a wonderful place!

Congratulations @mimama for Clark acceptance and @momreads for state qual!

D received an acceptance yesterday to UConn woot woot! so many great choices she has now.

Sounds like everyone is getting some outstanding news! Congratulations all! Looks like the USS Indecision may be crowded.

@crowlady - thanks for the google docs! I added my son’s acceptances-
Congratulations to some many of you and thank you for sharing the news! I love hearing about all the successes. My S is starting off his 2nd / final semester strong …the boy who doesn’t care about grades - only the learning.
I am glad he is happy ! Sailing starts at the end of the month Burrrrr!

Congrats @cakeisgreat and @mimama ! I am working with a professor from Clark right now who is both academically impressive and very positive and warm. Maybe I can get S16 to apply there.

Congratulations to the recent acceptances, @cakeisgreat and @mimama.

My D was accepted at her safety (Cal Poly SLO) few days ago. It’s a good option and she’s willing to attend if she needs to.

Congrats to all for the good news! I’m bummed to be in the group of parents that still has another 3-5 weeks of waiting before decisions arrive. Its going to make April a crazy month for us unless, of course, we get good news from the first choice school. We still have 7 of 8 schools to hear from (although with a Regents invitation from UCSC at least we know an acceptance is coming from that school, so it’s more like 6 0f 8) trying to keep mentally occupied with the college search for D15.

@2018dad - congrats to your D! Cal Poly SLO is a great school & really quite a bargain for in-staters. It was high on our list until D decided to go for music. We know lots of happy attendees there.

@GertrudeMcFuzz
Thanks! I agree, the school is quite a bargain for in-state, about $26K.

@PetraElise I feel your pain. We’re waiting and waiting and waiting. Ironically, his super safety seems to have lost his application but we’re not even bothering with trying to figure out what their problem is. He’s decided he’s not going there.

I’m so burned out. 3 weeks left of grad school and I just feel like I can’t do it anymore. I’ll push through it, but man oh man, I totally understand the senioritis thing our kids go through.

Although SS Indecision has not yet set sail, I think we’ve boarded early.

Son was leaning towards a school based on the acceptances in hand and the price tag from those colleges where he is awaiting word. He was pretty much ready to pull the trigger on this niche major at a college he likes and they invite him to the Honors Program. So far so good. “How many classes that I’d have to take anyway have honors sections?” he asks. “Good question.” says I, and we look. ( I missed annual “talk like a pirate day” this year)

We inadvertently end up looking at the four required classes (to be taken Junior and Senior years) that differentiate his major from a more general major.offered at the college . Oops. Only one of the four was offered Fall 2013 with only 2 enrolled students. None are offered this spring or next fall. OK, niche is niche, but if you are going there to major in a program in which you might be the ONLY graduate, how much of a risk are you taking that they’ll cancel your program? Potentially worse, they DON’T cancel your program and you end up hanging around an extra year or more to get your required classes.

Back to square one on decision making.

Yikes, @Quagmiro! I’d definitely call/email someone from the department and ask them about that.

In other news…we got d’s prom dress. We hauled it all the way out an hour and a half to VA only to get there and find out the store was closed. Apparently the woman who owns the store just opens and closes on a whim. We regrouped - headed over to Tysons and d ended up finding a really wonderful dress. Phew!

Hold on @2016BarnardMom! I swear it is the time of the year - you just feel like you are slogging through the day. As a teacher, I usually sit here in February and say “This is my LAST year!” Spring has a way of changing my mind! I know you will feel so good when it is all over and you have that degree in hand!

Ok…feeling really blessed this evening…UPS truck just delivered full tuition and fees Dean’s Honor Scholarship recipient letter to DS for Tulane…renewable for all 4 years…lots of screaming by all…very, very grateful!!!

looks like our family colors are green wave rather than ivy green…who knew!
