So, while I still think #1 will appear tonight, S is handling it well- had a long nap and is now off with his friends. I am robotically hitting refresh on the school’s page. Hopefully the UVA basketball game will eventu

Eventually capture my attention. Congrats on Amherst and Claremont-McKenna! Bringing in some sweet acceptances here,

@2014ProfDad - Congratulations!! Wonderful start to both decisions and Spring Break!

@go2mom - Wow, how exciting!! Will keep fingers crossed for Seaver scholarship!

@akmom124 - sounds like a win-win situation!

@89wahoo and all others awaiting decisions - wishing just the right fit for all our kids! What a crazy time!

@2014ProfDad it must have been agonizing watching everyone get all their ducks in a row and still waiting for the the first decision! Congrats on Carleton! And why not count your place of employment – not really in the running? Do you get any tuition exchange? Congrats to @newhavenCTmom’s D and @go2mom’s D.

This is like popping popcorn.

@ akmom…DD has been so nonchalant about this whole process. I’ve been a nervous wreck…my fingernails have been whittled down and my hair is a nice, bright gray. She is far more excited about the state championship basketball game this Sunday. All the state championship games are played at the bball arena at Mohegan Sun casino. So that’s where her focus is! Lol I’m tempted to log into her a Trinity College portal to find out her decision…I will wait. This is her process.

Congrats, @2014ProfDad.
@go2mom, that’s awesome that go2girl got a personal call from Claremont-McKenna!

Agent, the federal Stafford loans start at $5,500 for freshmen and go up by $1,000 per year so their total for 4 years could be close to $30,000 after 4 years. Whether the loan is subsiduzed or unsubsidized depends on your FAFSA and your EFC.

D is accepted at UCLA. This is her top UC (not Berkeley) and first school that she really cares that she’s accepted.

Congrats @2014ProfDad and @go2mom.

Oh, 208dad that is great news!:)

Congrats to everyone with more good news. The countdowns and waiting are beginning to end as numerous schools started releasing decisions today and this evening. Lets be hopeful that this might mean that most remaining schools will announce by next Friday and not on Monday the 31st. Another weekend of waiting will just aggravate the stress and uncertainty of the wait.

Our experience with grad announcements was just for family and a very few close friends. We sent grad party invites to most friends, family members and neighbors. Most of the families iin our area have a grad party. Some are at local party centers or Clubs but most willl be yard parties with a tent. We will have the same for D that we had for S in 2011. We had a tent and a catered event for friends, family and neighbors. We fed the adults and all of D’s school friends were invited later after the adults ate. They finished what remained and everyone had a piece of the graduation cake. There was a staffed beer and wine bar for adults and non-alcoholic drinks for the kids. Our “bartender” was a former local police officer who is on a partial disability and no longer able to be on the active force. His presence and ability to handle any issues was very beneficial and we had no problems other than one neighbor complaining about parking in the street. He made one call and it was resolved.

Good luck to everyone expecting to hear this weekend.

I’ve been trying to get back on here the past few hours to read the news (is this a sign of addiction?).

Congratulations to @NewHavenCTMom, @2014ProfDad, @go2mom, and @2018Dad!! This is fabulous news! I am so happy for you!

S got into UCLA! Very proud! He prefers Berkeley though, so another week to go!

I want to go to your party, captain! And congrats on the UCLA acceptance, 2018dad!

I also want to go to Captain’s party.

Congrats to your S @collegetime18.

Thanks everyone! I’m clock watching. Trinitys decisions were released this evening. I was so tempted to take a look see. The portal has been calling me! The suspense!!!

Here’s another UCLA acceptance. First acceptance that S is truly excited about.

Great news@ minnymom

Congrats to the UCLA admits! Awesome news!

I haven’t even really thought about graduation announcements yet! My parents are pushing for a date for our graduation party for DD so they can make plans to come up from Florida. It all will depend upon where she ends up next year and when the orientation dates are. I’m thinking we’ll have her graduation party in early August after her summer theatre show and before any orientation. I live in a neighborhood with 11 girls and 2 boys all of whom are 2014’s and 4 of the girls live on our small cul-de-sac. I think I’ve got to get a “save the date” out sooner rather than later just to preserve the parking situation! Since DD is the only one (in the cul-de-sac) not attending the public school, we can’t really do a general party. We’ll invite all the neighbors, but we’ll also have all her hometown friends and all her school friends to invite. Thinking about all of this is definitely better than thinking about admission decisions!!

@overtheedge Definitely addicted! I’ve decided that I get far too few opportunities for validation myself (except from my DH who is biased) and so I’m hooked on the validation my S gets. And here we can bask in each other’s triumphs and celebrations. And share the sorrows, too, may they be few.

We’ve talked about a neighborhood graduation party in our cul de sac and adjoining yard(s). We have had similar get togethers two or three times a year probably for 11 years! With 6 graduating seniors there’s critical mass, and they just announced the graduation date so I guess we’d better get planning. Interestingly, though the kids used to be good friends in elementary school they’ve all developed their own mostly independent friend circles. But we all still have each others’ backs.

Congrats on UCLA- @2018dad, @Minnymom and @collegetime18! Wowser-86,000 applicants!

Congrats on Amherst- @NewHavenCTmom!

Congrats on Claremont-M- @go2mom

Congrats to @2014ProfDad on Carleton-hooray for the first one in! (S got the big envelope today-maybe we’ll see you there!)

good luck on the Rices and Trinity!
This is getting crazy and addicting, too!
