<p>@mdcmom and @2018dad I’m surprised to hear that in CAS they can’t use their APs toward major OR distribution requirements. My S is in engineering at Cornell and was able to apply courses to his major, to the general engineering requirements, to the first year composition requirements, and at least one course to his distribution requirements. Interesting that CAS is so different from CoE in this regard – the AP credit really has helped my S be able to fit everything in!</p>

Kinda. But instead of doing the tourist thingy, we are mostly dedicating our time to visiting and reconnecting with friends/families/relatives in the area that we haven’t seen for a while. My wife thinks it’s necessary just in case my D needs some help or place during those short breaks that she can’t come home. We’ll still probably visit NYC but maybe just for a day.</p>

<p>We went to bed, bath & beyond shopping yesterday. They told us dorm stuff doesn’t get put out until after next week. However, she has an early move in, is working, we’re moving my mom so we have to just do stuff when we actually have time.</p>
<p>Also now set for sorority recruitment. After dorm shopping we stopped by some stores nearby and found the black dress, the final outfit. lol </p>

<p>Dorm shopping has been sporadic all spring, actually we got a shower caddy and some storage cubes last summer. Still need a mattress pad, (non-foam, foam pads of any type are not allowed in RIT dorms) and maybe a desk lamp. Oh yeah, and the laptop which will be her graduation gift, even though graduation happened last Thursday. I told D it was up to her and my husband to choose one, then I would look for discounts. </p>
<p>She had a great weekend of parties, and is about to start a part-time job at a museum. I think I’m more excited about that than the HS graduation. Her class was so big D was just one of almost 500 to cross the stage, but this job is really <em>her</em> accomplishment and opportunity. </p>
<p>And of course my elderly mother has a dr. appointment this morning. The facility she lives at is transporting her there, and in truth their aide could stay with Mom during the appointment, but I’m feeling duty-bound since this is a check-up appointment. If D needs some last minute info at the job she can text me I guess. </p>
<p>Wow you guys have been busy posting! DS got back from beach week yesterday and by all reports had a blast. I enjoyed hearing all his stories and then seeing pictures, both candid and more formal (they took pictures at twilight on the beach on the last day, with coordinated outfits). A great group of friends, and so far I have not seen any fouling behavior. As a matter of fact, he is off again today with a subset of the group to spend a few days at someone’s lake house.</p>
<p>We will do dorm shopping after the fourth, although DS did go to the outlets one day when the weather was a bit iffy at the beach and he bought some clothes. He’ll still need more but we’ll go to a different outlet nearby and some I will order and just ship to him.</p>

<p>Thought I’d share some AP score info for those who are anxiously awaiting. Although College Board is not relasing scores until next week, my daughter was on her college portal and she saw her May AP scores along with her SAT scores, etc. One of her APs was Studio Art and she just received her portfolio via UPS. So if your child can log on to his or her college portal, he or she can take a look and see if any scores have already been reported!</p>

<p>We’ll also be doing most of our shopping after the 4th, but I have picked up a few odds and ends. Figure it won’t be such a budget buster if it comes in pieces. Older d is in an apartment, so d’14 has a lot of hand-me-down dorm stuff, fridge, microwave, shower caddy, plastic drawers. I did order a twin XL allergy cover from Amazon. I looked in the big box places we have and didn’t see any. </p>
