I love looking over the list of our students’ selected schools. It’s very impressive!
We’ve definitely started taking note of some of the lasts. D will have her “lasts” of several choir activities (and actually already has had some) and she’s looking forward to her last summer musical with this group. It’s been such a difficult semester in many ways, so I’m just proud of her for making it to this point.
At some point, we need to plan her graduation. She wants to keep it fairly simple. She’s planning to do a short recital as part of it and I will make a slide show (as I did with her older sister). That is quite a project, but I really treasure the final product! I think we’ll hold off and have it later in the summer so she has some time to prepare.
@Kelowna D seems to feel the English IB went well both days. I think she’s storing up the freak out for Physics and Math HL. We had a minor preview when she couldn’t find her graphic calc this afternoon. The one that was SITTING RIGHT ON THE TABLE where she left it.

@Kelowna DH is still undergoing testing to clarify underlying cause but will most likely need an organ transplant within months. The news was unexpected and we had to tell DS 2 weeks before college decisions were due.
We are trying to live a normal day to day life while waiting for news and Dr.s appointments while protecting our 10 year twins from situation until we have more clarity and the school year is over.

Adding @eerboco’s D to the list. Lots of kids in our area go to U of Scranton and I really liked it when we visited but D had too many other choices.
And @FCCDAD I don’t think it’s strange, I feel the same way. But D is going to a school with 2200 students and it feels good to see other students from Sisters schools like @ClubAcres’ D going to Smith. UVA is so big that it’s a little surprising to have just 1 person.

FCCDAD - UVA was high on D’s list for a long time. She made it through the first round of Jefferson Scholars but did not make it to Virginia. The school she chose works out much better for us financially and thankfully, she loves it. UVA is a great school- I wish your D the best.
Two AP tests down, one to go ( Lang) and then she has two finals for classes she is taking through a college program. I am not used to seeing her so relaxed … :-"
@FCCDAD - I kind of know how you feel. My S’ first choice for quite a while was Case Western Reserve and I noticed that no one from last year’s list went there and no one on this year’s list either. It did give me pause. However, I’m sure we don’t have a statistically accurate representation on this forum.
So one of S’ closer friends from high school is also attending the same school and this friend wants a fresh start He specifically chose the university to not be around anyone from his high school (this is a very popular kid in all the good ways but I guess he wants to be able to start on a new foot - though he should have picked one farther away IMO if it was that important). S seems fine with it but he is one who has always kept in touch with his old friends so I’m sure it is a bit perplexing that this friend doesn’t want to socialize with him at the university. I can understand giving space but I’m getting the sense that he’d rather not see him at all. I know the issue is with this kid’s own lack of self confidence but still feel a bit badly for my S.
I feel like I need a reader’s digest version of the thread sometimes.
