We were concerned @GoAskDad, so it is nice to see you back!
So glad you are back @GoAskDad!
Happy dance …glad to see you back @GoAskDad :-h
Yay! It’s good to “see” you back!
Great to “see” you @GoAskDad!!
Hi @GoAskDad !
@giterdone I hope that was not a goodbye post?
I mailed my first care box! Stuffed some treats and her ballet shoes into a priority mail box.
I know what giterdone is talking about. CC has been great but as I work on my next one (S18), I feel really out of touch. I learned a lot about the college process, and met some friends and had some off-topic conversations
Things are so stressful for us that I’m starting to untie the apron strings…
Good luck giterdone, pop back if you need something
But an update on my son; he’s settled a bit since classes started. He finally met with a few people he had to meet with regarding his schedule and LD accomodations, and is taking care of some things. He seems okay. I think he is settling in and I’m not as worried as I was.
I agree about weening off…have not been on a lot…S’16 is a different ball of wax versus D’15. This group has been great from the beginning and you definitely have been as my D would say “cyber friends”…D is finding her legs and I will always be thankful for the '15 group getting her to this point…it is now time to move on…just know that weening off may be a process
Got back today from dropping off S. Move-in was altogether smooth - though very hot and muggy (in Minneapolis!) and the bed was not lofted as requested (but we were able to make it work). Have only had some brief texts with S since we left - will hopefully have a short Skype session with him tomorrow. I was in a pretty good place the whole time until the very end when three fat tears escaped - dammit!
Can you believe that out of the nearly 6000 freshman on that huge campus we ended up bumping into the three people he knew? The two from his school (one, a female student, is actually on his floor and he did not know her very well but the mom recognized me from school and the other was the former best friend who wants to start fresh and will pretend not to know S - H blew it by spotting him first and calling out to him) and the third was his roomie from registration orientation.
@giterdone - I understand but still a bit disappointed you won’t be hanging around since our S’ go to the same university. I know I will continue to have questions for a while yet - first kid off to college syndrome I guess.
I’m having a good time here at WSU, worrying about my classes, but I really like all my teachers.
I’ve never said this on CC before, so other posters, listen up… I’m a girl, not a guy. I don’t mean I’m transgender, I mean I’ve been a girl all along. Albert is a name I like and I was very conscious about maintaining my anonymity when I joined CC, so I decided to use that screen name and pretend I was a guy. It was silly, I know, and I feel stupid now because I’ve been pretending to be a guy when I post for some time now. My “girlfriend” was actually my boyfriend, and the person I’ve interested in now is a guy. I realize now that it’s unlikely anyone could guess who I am just from my gender, so I figured I should share that… and I probably sounded like a very strange boy. Sorry for the deception, everyone, please realize it was done out my nervousness, not out of any desire to t r o l l.
Completely understand @albert69 - you need to be careful on-line! But I have to say this somewhat explains your maturity level
I thought maybe you were a parent, @albert69. I was pretty sure you weren’t a college-aged male.
@gradygrad @singermom4 Lol, thanks for the responses! Sorry if it’s a little strange. But obviously the potential for jokes with this one is endless.
One thing that is good that I’m in the Honors section of Calc III… if I hadn’t have been I’d have been screwed, because apparently they cover vectors in Calc II here, so most Calc III classes here are taught with the assumption that we’ve already learned vectors. Now, my Calc II class didn’t cover vectors, but this particular teacher is very “into” math, so he decided to start from the basics and go through the process of precisely defining vectors and cover them again… whew!
@albert69 you had me fooled - I think because of the pilot thing I just took you being a very mature guy at face value.
But double congrats on being a girl who flies! That’s sooo impressive. Hats off to ya!
@albert69 I will say I’m not surprised, though I didn’t suspect it. It’s definitely far more typical for a girl your age than for a guy your age to enjoy posting on a forum full of folks your parents’ age.
I always want to shoo you off here, @albert69, and remind you that you should be out enjoying college, not exchanging posts with us old farts.
^ Lol, I stay “in” a lot and study. You all are interesting… and it’s interesting to see other parent’s perspectives on kids going away to college.
@scholarme That’s funny, I kinda figured with my interests (engineering, flying) I sounded like a believable guy on that front… why double congrats because I’m a girl, is it supposed to be harder for me something? I’m kidding, thanks. My now ex-boyfriend, the one I decided to go to glider encampment with (which I don’t regret but they way, it was awesome), really is also a student pilot.
Besides, I can share things with you that I can’t with my own parents out of embarrassment, such as my crush… my mom asked me last night something about if there was anyone I liked/been interested in me… and while I could answer honestly on the second part, no one’s been hitting on me, I couldn’t admit that I do have a crush on someone.
@albert69 - I did not guess it but had me wondering considering your posts! May be , I should be into psychology and analyzing things
@albert69 - hope you have friends you can talk to about crush and all! Good luck to you!
