Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

Thanks for the mattress topper advice. We will not unleash it before getting it into the dorm. [-X

Congrats to all those receiving positive AP and IB news!

@readingclaygirl @madredos Thank God! When we saw “DIPLOMA AWARDED” we just cried with joy!! We are both completely drained!!

Congrats!!! @HappyFace2018 <:-P

@mom23travelers, virtual hug! I just checked D’s school for paid research studies, and they have tons. The first one that popped up was a cognitive brain study while playing games. Score!

Just received notice of VirginAmerica sale today. Buy before 5pm today for flights 8/23 to 2/28/17. Happy booking!

Re airline vent, I had something similar with JetBlue, but a call to them did fix it!

Re comforters, I ordered one of the ones with the tucked lower corners from I think it was bunk bed bunkers or some such, xl twin. I searched for loft bed linens maybe?

Re toppers, we’re not doing one of the foam ones, but I started washing the mattress covers (bed bug and cushioned). I also washed the zipper sheet and comforter set but that was claimed by DS3 for when he moves to DS2’s xl loft when DS2 moves to DS1’s double this fall.

I hope it’s ok to quote something the boys yelled at each other because though vulgar I thought it was hilarious: “don’t make me have to clean up your penisy laundry”. I think it was undies.

We did buy train tix for Thanksgiving.

I smelled our topper and it didn’t have a strong odor. We are going to leave it wrapped. I have everything needed for his bed in one big comforter bag and that will be the first thing we do when he moves in so we can check that off the list.

What kind of mattress toppers are you all getting? I want something nice but no more than $60 or $70.

@readingclaygirl We saw them in BBB and they were between $150 and $199.

@readingclaygirl

You’ll be able to find something in that price range on Amazon.

Thanks. I have Amazon gift cards too. @Midwest67

I plan to order toper from Amazon when she gets her permanent dorm around Labor Day. She was perfectly fine with a thin mattress during her summer program last year, so few days without is are manageable. All this staying at the temporary dorm for pre-orientation and orientation program and then moving to her permanent dorm on her own after we leave makes it a little challenging, but I am sure she can manage.

@readingclaygirl also, as I mentioned earlier, check out Big Lots and Ross, if you have either near you. Ross is already putting out dorm stuff, but Big Lots has a solid bedding department year-round. Since you live so close to the college, you might find a better deal near you than online. And I know everyone loves BBB, but their prices are much higher than the other two stores I mentioned. Also, try Homegoods or TJ Maxx (which owns Homegoods). For online, also look at Overstock. I got my 4" memory foam mattress at about half of what other sites were charging a few years back.

@readingclaygirl, Target has one for under $20 in above link

^only 12 left!

I second overstock. Bought some very nice sheets and also a duvet set there.

@readingclaygirl, if you don’t find one you like and can suffer on a hard mattress for awhile, BBB clearances out all the toppers after school starts. I got a 3" 7 zone one for my D a few years back, it was originally $250 but I got it for $50. That’s what she’ll take to school with her.

Walmart has them too, and JCPenney sometimes has home sales and coupons for $10 off

I need to refresh my screen before I post…so many good suggestions before I chimed in!

@readingclaygirl and @HappyFace2018 - Thanks a bunch. I know you were a great support to your friends, readingclaygirl. And HappyFace2018, congrats!!!
