We use Zenni for spare glasses.
Iām going to look into this further, @sseamom, @carolinamom2boys.
I havenāt exactly been to an eye doctor in probably 30 years, so Iām not really sure how this goes, prescriptions/OTC lenses/frames. Iām a mess.
Hi, there, @carolinamom2boys : How are things going?
I went for the first time in years when I couldnāt pass the eye portion of the driverās license renewal. Make sure you get a copy of your prescription @Waiting2exhale . They HAVE to by law, give it to you. Donāt let them trick you with āspecial framesā and āspecial lensesā. I COULD get special thinner material for my legally blind eye, but regular ones are just fine. Zenniās site and others like it have tutorials about how to understand the prescription and measurements so that you get a good fit and the right prescription.
My DD16 has finally taken notice of the need to build Dorm Mountain. She texted: āDo u get any old lady discounts from Lands End?ā
Snort!
lol @dyiu13
@Waiting2exhale, and after the kid is safely launched in college you need to make an eye appointment for yourself.
Re: Health Care Power of Attorney and General POA (financial, access to info, to act upon kidās behalf). Did someone post links to Legal Zoom? Opinions on whether this is something a lawyer should put together?
This is the last thing Iām dragging my feet on. I come to you for words of wisdom!
@Waiting2exhale yes! I try to appear in public only in dark wash jeans due to my figure.
@mommdc :
ā@Waiting2exhale, and after the kid is safely launched in college you need to make an eye appointment for yourself.ā
I do know it is about time, mommdc. I made an appointment to go last spring and then the big kid popped in and I thought āWhy not let this guy take the appointment?ā So I did.
@fretfulmother: Come on, fret. Letās all get together and show folks how fabulous figures can be.
Hey! Orientation was amazing and so much fun! I got my schedule and it doesnāt seem too bad
Well today solidified the deal at orientation. DS16 chose the absolute BEST school for him. Found out today that some good friends( former next door neighbors) have some friends whose son is also going to CofC . Spoke to the mom whoāve Iāve met several times in the past. Her older son graduated with a CS degree from CofC several years ago and has an amazing job. He loved the program. She had nothing but great things to say about it.
We arrived on campus early. He let me take pics. ( He hates his picture to be taken) He ran into 2 friends from HS . He bailed on me for lunch to eat with his new friends and suitemates. I got to meet 4 of the ELLC guys. Nice guys. Met their parents. DS16 met with the Dean of CS. Heās so excited. Very supportive environment . Got to see the Honors dorms . Nicer than I thought. I feel so much better to see him so excited and making connections . ;
@carolinamom2boys Outstanding and congrats!!
I got put into the Honors Seminar! Itās only like 18 people(all the seminars) are small and I am the only non science major in it. Itās mostly nursing majors with a few health science and biology majors. Iām the only English/Education major. It was so much fun though
Congrats @readingclaygirl .
@carolinamom2boys : Very happy to know that your son is going to make himself at home in a place that you can see is going to be great for him. Very exciting to hear your news.
Wonderful to feel that your DS made the perfect choice for him @carolinamom2boys and that orientation just solidified that for both of you.
So happy your orientation went well @readingclaygirl
Spent much of the day hunting for Pokemon with D16. Dorm mountain grew a little bit, thanks to a few packages that arrived today.
@sseamom: Daughter must dress for an affair, and needs one business look and one business casual look.
After a day spent trying to outfit her at some well known retailers, she had one business casual look pulled together.
I laughed at one point when she said she found the full price of some rather nice clothing ādisgusting.ā She thought the sale prices came closer to something she might consider if they went on sale.
At the end of her light shopping yesterday I told her that I am not investing in clothing she will wear perhaps twice before her body outgrows it,
With thoughts of your great skill at finding nice items in mind, I coaxed her to accompany me to the largest resale store in the area. She had a blast trying on all the different cuts of blazers, slacks, and skirt suits, all of which helped her to determine what ālookā she feels is hers. She walked out with pieces which really please her.
I see someone turning corners at an exponential rate⦠
Love to hear the awesome news from @readingclaygirl & @carolinamom2boysās DS!
Thank you @carolinamom2boys @bookmom7
Itās so nice to hear of such positive orientation experiences, @readingclaygirl and @carolinamom2boys!
