It wasn’t Lifetouch, but some other company was there. We’ve been getting emails as well as snail mail practically begging us to buy the photos, which start at about $75 for the “basic” package. On sale. Since H does some photography as part of his job, he was able to borrow a professional camera and had permission to take his own pictures. So we won’t be buying any.
Well, just paid our GW bill and it felt great! I’m not being facetious…it really felt good. Just being able to do it…my hubby and I got a little emotional.
Just got a notification that our bill is ready last night. It’s not due till August.
@LexieAnn No Lifetouch here. The school used a local company and it was a different one than they had used in 2014. I picked up photos at a local State Farm office which I thought was odd.
Lifetouch will totally drop the price the longer you wait. But, if you just want one picture instead of a big package, it will never get seriously discounted.
Two notifications yesterday here - one that the bill is posted, the other that D’s advisor has been promoted to a new job and is no longer her advisor. It said to contact the main advising office if she has any issues that she needs help with. She is a little bummed. She liked her advisor and they spent a lot of time talking about potential majors based on her interests. Now she has lost that contact. She’s also concerned that of something happens and she needs to change her schedule she doesn’t even have an advisor to talk to. I hope they assign a new advisor soon.
Someone (sorry don’t remember who) posted about insurance deductibles so it got me thinking. Our deductible on our homeowners policy is very high. High enough so that if everything D owned was stolen, we wouldn’t hit it. So I think we may need to buy dorm insurance after all. We are also considering just buying a safe for her to lock up her stuff in. Her computer is a 4 year old Mac air and the insurance company would probably consider it fully depreciated and give us nothing even if it were stolen.
For our graduation photos, it was a local place that mailed them.
@me29034 what a time to lose the advisor! Hope she gets someone new soon.
I did check that insurance posted above and it has a lower deductible than ours, but with the addition of liability, the cost ends up being about the same (ours includes liability as a matter of course, as well as “lose of use”). Whichever we go with, a little more than $100 for the school year is well worth the peace of mind.
I’ve been mapping out routes to the stores and tourist places we want to visit in Nashville. Looks like pretty much every place we could possibly need to shop for dorm stuff is within a 1-mile radius. Ross, Target, Walmart, Costco, Dollar Tree, Big Lots, Goodwill AND A Publix are all right there, along with plenty of places to eat. This should make the shopping trip simple and non-stressful, even for my H, who is not a shopper.
Ahhh- just sent my one & only half way around the world! I’m anxious for his travel abroad but, so excited for him to have this opportunity!
@bookmom7 my oldest is traveling across the globe today as well. Hope he has a safe travels.
The same for your oldest @Ballerina016 - where are they headed?
He and his girlfriend going to Greece. They have a layover in Munich and I just heard on the news about what happened at Munich shopping mall.
Where does your son travel?
He is flying to DC to meet up with the team (this is for the Linguistic Olympiad) then to Frankfurt for a couple of hours before heading on to India. Long flight.
Hopefully with all going on they will increase security to keep everyone safe! [-O<
What a fun trip!
Prayers of Protection for all of your sweet ones traveling and Peace for the parents [-O<
Hope they are all safe. Scary having them in Germany with recent events.
Just looked at my dorm move in countdown tracker. We now have 29 days to move in. Ugh. It’s coming too fast . :((
Our S has been in London since early Monday, and the dog seems out of sorts. She’s been whining a lot more, and I’m guessing she’s missing him. I think we’re down to 33 days until move in.
@LexieAnn we had lifetouch for graduation photos, and I was able to find a coupon through retailmenot to save maybe 10 or 20%? I can’t recall. I just wanted one 5x7 photo of my S16 receiving his diploma and shaking hands with the principal since the other photos were not that great (he was supposed to hold up his diploma in front of him in one, but they also gave them each white roses so he held that up instead by accident ;)). I would check the coupon websites to see if you can find one for a discount on the ordering. The quality of ours is not that good - I think it either needed more contrast or a change in the color - looked very yellow but still a nice closeup.
@carolinamom2boys See now why’d ya have to go and bring that up :((
