Thank you! @carolinamom2boys I’ll keep you all posted
Our son got a tv as part of a special offer when he got his new computer. He took it to his room without taking it out of the box. After we’d moved him in his roommate walked in carrying the same box.
@mstomper Was it a Dell? We got that offer too. It is quite popular in DS16’s suite.
Yep, @carolinamom2boys, it was a Dell.
We are leaving tomorrow for our 6.5 hour drive. Move in is Friday morning first thing. Whole family is going as older sis has some time before leaving for her abroad semester and had not yet seen son’s college.
Good luck @momofzag I can’t imagine making such a long drive! We leave tomorrow morning too and I can’t sleep- I’m just so full of emotion!
@mstomper ooh, Adele… Music to my ears.
Good luck to you @readingclaygirl! So excited for you and hope that you check in from time to time to fill us in!
I should probably be asleep, but I’m running over all the ‘don’t forget’ items that pop in my head. The car is nearly loaded. Hopefully there will be just enough room to toss in our bag for the weekend and any last minute remembered must haves. We’ll attach the bike rack and bike tomorrow. Fingers crossed it stays intact the whole 700 miles.
Have a safe trip @LexieAnn- I couldn’t sleep the night before driving either. (Haha-and still can’t after returning!)
Well, just woke up out of a dead sleep. The clock is set for 5:00am and we have to load the car this morning because the alleyway we use to access our garage is still being resurfaced X( I have to get over that before everyone wakes up. [-O<
When I arrived home from an overnight business trip (thanking God for getting me through tornado like wind and ran because we live not far from Kokomo, Indiana where the Starbucks was flattened by an F3 tornado) my sweet girl was doing her best to downsize her three large duffel bags from 2 to 3 because she’s now taking her violin and ukulele.
She got her Simplified Planner from our nearby Oliver’s Twist store (it was sold out online)

She loves the planner for many reasons to include the bible verses tucked in at the top of the daily schedule. When I looked through her book bag I noticed she’d packed her bible and a new journal which made me very happy.
Her friend dropped by on Tuesday to bring her a gift…two apple crumb mini pies from Magnolia Bakery in Chicago!
My sweet girl visited while in Chicago attending MUN and New York when she played at Carnegie Hall with her orchestra! If you ever have an opportunity to visit it is yum!!

Another friend gave her $100 (needless to say I cried). Well, it’s 4:25am and I’m wide awake now (alarm is set for 5:00am). Guess I’ll get ready to take my only child to college 10 hours away :(( :(( [-O< [-O<
You’ll be fine once you see how much she loves her school @HappyFace2018 . Safe travels .
Good luck @HappyFace2018 ! I’m up here too and we don’t leave for another 2 hours. I didn’t get too much sleep last night either
@readingclaygirl Thank you so much! Safe travels to you my dear!!We have packed the car and are off! First stop STARBUCKS!!!
@carolinamom2boys Thank you so much :x
Move in went well. There was nobody around at 7pm. The worst was the packing but we got it all done that day since we didn’t have to leave until afternoon.
D’s single room turned out a lot smaller than expected but she has a nice closet and only shares the bathroom with one girl.
We met two of her apartment mates and they were really nice.
I made the bed, cleaned the bathroom thoroughly. Did some dishes. Then we had some Thai food.
It was easier to leave than last year.
@lifegarding, yes we almost forgot the retainer after I was trying to give it a good cleaning.
Good luck to everyone moving today!
D has not bought any books yet. When she checked last week before we traveled, only two of her classes had books listed and one was just a $13 paperback written by one of the professors. I don’t know what is going on with the others. I haven’t talked to her about it this week to see if its been updated but I think at this point she will just wait until after classes start to get her books.
@RyanG1207, you texting experience sounds like ours. We got very little the first couple of weeks, and then only one or two word responses. S has gotten much better over the last week or so at sending us texts about things (what he’s up to, funny things on campus, looking for advice).
There’s definitely an adjustment period - no news should be good news. It’ll get better. In hindsight they all want that chance to be independent and make their own way for a bit.
And good luck to everyone traveling/moving in today and tomorrow!!
I texted D this morning just to check in since we haven’t heard from her since we left her on Monday. She texted back that she is fine and asked me to send a picture of the dog. I guess that’s good.
