Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

YAY!

Awesome!

@petrichor11 Yay!!! Congrats.

@fretfulmother S has not gotten his interview request yet for his Ivy EA, although others on CC say they have received requests. His SAT scores were just received, however, so maybe that was the reason. He applied on Oct 29.

Such terrific news for your kids @Sophmore1 @LKnomad @petrichor11 @carolinamom2boys ! :D/

At our home, the EA high is over, and it’s time to face reality–otherwise known as the CSS. I can feel my brain juices draining by the minute! :((

@petrichor11 Congratulations! :slight_smile:

@petrichor11 Congratulations!!

I too am dreading the CSS profile potential drama…

@happymochi and @lvmjac1 I finished up the Profile by the EA deadline. We have a business. You have not lived until you have had to add the supplemental forms to your CSS Profile!

Congratulations for acceptances!!!

Nothing much happening here. I noticed that SAT scores were sent this morning to all the schools DD is applying either EA or RD. I asked her to send scores to all the schools to avoid any complication later on. DD’s not going to have any interview unless school asks. She does not like interviews.

@LKnomad I do not envy your situation regarding the filing of the profile with a business. We have to assist many clients at the accounting firm that I work…its not fun for sure! I am just procrastinating finding the time and putting it aside to properly deal with it. :-SS

Congrats @petrichor11

Well we had one good news: I got a “bill” in the mail from UMD (College Park) with a negative balance (!?) so I called the bursar - apparently we got an un-requested fee waiver for “academic reasons”. :slight_smile:

@fretfulmother LOL if I have to get a bill that is the one I want to get! Congrats

@carolinamom2boys, @LKnomad, @Sophmore1, @petrichor11: Congratulations to your children!

@fretfulmother, I would not read anything into the timing of interviews. It is highly variable at both the college and local levels.

@AsleepAtTheWheel, love the story about a lifetime of rooting against USC.

Continued congrats on all the acceptances!

Thanks everyone!

I’m not going to ask which Ivies people are applying to, but I was told at a muti-Ivy recruiting event that (at least for our recruiting area) no Yale interviews were even going to be assigned until after Nov.1. I gather from what has been said elsewhere on CC that that’s not the case everywhere, but it’s what I was told. So maybe different geographic areas have slightly different interview agendas?

Very proud moment in our house today especially since school soccer has been an extremely difficult endeavor to endure for her (as a result of many things that have absolutely nothing to do with academics or soccer ability). D was one of 12 athletes selected as an Academic All-County Girls Varsity Soccer player and will be honored at a banquet right before Thanksgiving! We did not even know that this type of honor existed. This definitely takes the sting off her mini meltdown over the weekend because she was feeling inadequate. Definitely adding this to her CA and sending emails to the admissions departments of the schools she has already applied to (especially the really high reach schools…every additional honor can only help her chances).

Congrads @petrichor11 and lvmjac1 and anyone else with good news! I love reading it all !!

@petrichor11 - we live in the south; my son applied to Cornell for a major that said that interviews were not given. He sent his application in around October 20 and he got a call today from an alum to schedule an interview.
