Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

@readingclaygirl: You rock. Glad to hear it.

Congratulations, @readingclaygirl !

Congrats @readingclaygirl ! It’s nice to hear some good news today!

@Waiting2exhale @petrichor11 @RyanG1207 Thank you all. This is why I like this community

Yay, congrats, @readingclaygirl!

If I am connecting some very sad dots, then did @MStomper’s W attend the same school as @crowlady’s children do now? Small (sad) world today.

Congrats to you @readingclaygirl! <:-P

Sigh. Another missed week of school for DS. He had been ordered to stay away until next Monday. The DX is now walking pneumonia. He is itching to get back and is dreading the make up work. This also means his midterm grades will be late to colleges. I am hoping the fact that he has a 4.0 will mean colleges won’t really need these grades to make a decision.

He also had an odd blood test result which worried the doctor and more tests have been ordered including mono and…lupus… Which is in my family. He really doesn’t need this extra stress.

Great job @readingclaygirl!

So sorry to hear that @lknomad.

Oh no, @lknomad! Hoping for good test results–both medical and academic.

@EastGrad @Undercovermom1 @SouthFloridaMom9 Thank you @LKnomad I’m sorry to hear the latest DX. I’m really hoping it all works out. When my quarter grades were going to be late to college because of medical issues, my GC called and explained. So maybe your GC could do that just so they know they will be late. Feel better S!

@LKnomad I never thought that I’d say this but " come on mono" It’s definitely a pain, but the lesser of 2 evils.

Oh man @LKnomad! Sorry to hear of the dx and the additional worries. S has had swollen lymph glands in his throat and is also waiting on test results from that - early Mono was neg, but other stuff will take longer. Here’s hoping they both get the all clear and that your S is feeling better soon. That must be so hard to miss school, but I hope the rest is helping.

Hope your son feels better @CAMidwestMom

Thanks @carolinamom2boys. The hurting heart is the bigger issue right now, but I know he worries about the lymph nodes. Unfortunately the doc he originally saw was not his regular ped and he mentioned lymphoma. Today the nurse said his white blood cell counts were fine and that is an indicator to rule out lymphoma so at least I could tell him that. He is not the kid you want to mention the incredibly rare scenario to.

@CAMidwestMom I completely understand . My DS16 tends to be a worrier and overthink things. We had to have him worked up for Marfans Syndrome last year , and he was quite worried about the whole thing. We are very blessed to have such a great doctor who took the time to listen to him and ease his anxiety and even called later to follow up with him. Lymph nodes can be enlarged for quite sometime after they are ill. Hope you get good news soon.

@CAMidwestMom Hope your son feels better. In January there were about half a dozen seniors that ended up with mono. I think all the college stress just wore down their immunity. I’m a huge worrier too- I actually have generalized anxiety disorder

@readingclaygirl I am sorry you’re dealing with that. I am sure my son would be dx’d with that although we haven’t pursued it. He was on Meds and in counseling in elementary school and it seems to be rearing its head again and no wonder with all of the stress you guys are under. Honestly I think something has to change with our educational system and this process, but for now, we all have to work with this situation. I just feel like sometimes the love for learning takes a backseat or is thrown out of the car in favor of testing and building a resume for college. Sorry to ramble. You all handle way more than we ever did years ago.

Thank you. @CAMidwestMom I was dx’ed at 6 but it has been under control for years. I have my moments and sometimes it makes stressful things even worse but I am blessed to have great family and an incredible group of friends behind me. It doesn’t stop me at all and wasn’t mentioned at all in my college application, it just didn’t need to be. But my essay was about my hearing loss, even though various special Ed people said not to. And I completely agree with you about education. We were just talking about it today with that test score coming back.
