Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

Going back to the social media comments, I find it odd that AO’s take about 7 minutes to look over an application, yet have time to find parents IG accounts. In addition, some people have said they follow CC. I would hate to think a comment made by a parent would hurt a kids chance of getting into college.

Is anyone else struggling to motivate for IDOC? Our only school wanting it is Columbia. When D lists her “top 4”, Columbia isn’t in it. And she is into 3/4, so it isn’t like we need Columbia as a “backup”! (Joking, in case that doesn’t come across.) I’ve lost my motivation. Deadline isn’t until 3/1, so I can still pull myself together.

@Booajo I must finish IDOC this evening or Saturday morning. The procrastination is over.

Our taxes aren’t done, so we haven’t done IDOC anything. H is waiting on one final document. I believe we might qualify for FA for only 2 schools (which D hasn’t been admitted to yet), so we do need to get it in.

@dyiu13 - I did have trouble posting (like it wouldn’t register as sent and then wouldn’t appear but then did appear), but that was probably a week ago and has since resolved without me doing anything…good luck!

NOTE: It showed this comment had posted but when I came back the info was in the comment box - comment not there??

@Sophmore1 I can’t get IDOC to upload anything right now, so you may want to procrastinate some more.

@Mysondad I really didnt need another excuse :).

Lol, it most likely is just me.

I just called the school and was told the info on NMF arrive yesterday and the will be announcing to students today and D is on the list!

@3scoutsmom…congratulations

Congrats @3scoutsmom

Am I the only one refreshing constantly to see if there’s any good news today? I have so much on my plate (like wrestling with IDOC)…and yet you would think I need to get a life!

@Mysonsdad A while back @AsleepAtTheWheel said to be cautious about posting identifying info on the forums for each school because adcoms often peruse there. I have felt less constrained by the Parents thread, because if I can hardly keep up with it myself…how can they? But after this IG incident, I’m starting to wonder if I need to go super stealth?

Congratulations @3scoutsmom & @Dragonflygarden !

Congrats everyone with good news

Congratulations on NMF for your daughter @3scoutsmom

@happymochi really hoping for good news. :-SS

Congrats @3scoutsmom!

@happymochi, I agree, there have been several times that I have written things on CC and then thought to myself I better take it off and did. I wonder if you should ask on IG how they found you. Where I live is a not too big town and people can post things in our local paper anonymously and I can’t even figure out who they are. I could only imagine how hard it would be for ad comm people, unless of course it is by email.

Btw, we are also waiting for some good news today!!!

I couldn’t post on this forum last night. I was able to post elsewhere and answer PM’s though.

I HAVE GREAT NEWS! D just called me from school and said, “I have to read this email to you, but you have to promise not to cry.” The email was from Fisk awarding her a scholarship, renewable for all 4 years, that makes it affordable for us! She can go to her favorite school! I have been so stressed out about this-who doesn’t want their baby to go wherever they want, but that simply wasn’t an option for us.

As soon as the early registration weekend sign ups open next week, she’ll be adding her name. I had a feeling about this going our way, but you never know. SO proud of my girl-she decided in 8th grade this is what she wanted and here she is. There isn’t an emoji for tears of joy, but there should be.

@sseamom Fantastic! Congrats.
