So sorry @frenchtoastlover
Itâs ok @carolinamom2boys. When I got the âunlikelyâ letter, I already knew I was basically rejected.
This admissions cycle has just been brutal. D and her best friend got rejected and/or waitlisted where they really should have been easy admits. We still have a couple of schools outstanding and D has a few decent choicesâŠand thereâs still the hope of wait lists.
@QueensMom Iâm sorry about your daughter and her friend . It has become more clear to me over the past year with the growing number of applications at schools, there are no âeasy admitsâ anymore. I hope the deferrals or waitlists work out.
Hugs for your D and her friend @âQueenâs Momâ
I agree with @QueensMom. Watching the Vandy results roll in and it is not pretty. One of my Ds has a lot of friends who would normally be slam dunks who are, at best, being waitlisted this year. It is painful to watch. I am beginning to think there should be a maximum number of schools that a kid can apply to because that would help with these outrageous admit percentages. But I know that what kids want can change during the process and it is tricky to know when you start out where one might fit best in the end. Frustrating.
Thanks for the hugs guys. I canât complain too much. D got into one of her top choices with money. Itâs just horrendous blows to the ego one after the other.
Hugs to you too @frenchtoastlover - but, you have so many great choices- no worries!
@âQueenâs Momâ -hope things look up for your DD & friend.
Most of kidâs at our HS get wait-listed at best. Our school is a public magnet school with a very good standing nationally. I contribute it to a poor College counseling. If I was not regular on this forum our results would be very different.
S got wait listed to Vandy and Notre Dame the other day
@madredos - absolutely! (re- comment #17445) I have learned so much through this process & from this CC discussion. It has been a crazy experience & I feel for these kids.
Knowing what I know now, I would probably have tried to do things differently- but, Iâm 1 & done.
I hope those of you with younger children have a less stressful experience when it is their turn (fingers crossed!)
I have another one next year. Iâm already stressed.
" and your D will make an awesome educator for a bunch of very lucky kids in the future."
Iâm thinking some of our grandchildren, just before/ around the time she signs on to be the director of a school.
@AsleepAtTheWheel UIUC is my alma mater! Of course I am going to say itâs a great school because I went there. But it really is a good school especially when it comes to Engineering and Business. It has always been one of the top ten schools in Engineering for many years.
@frenchtoastlover so sorry the streak is over
@mrsquietstorm9 - when were you at U of I?
For me 1980-82.
Yes, I wish I would have known about CC a lot earlier. Things definitely would have been different.
Chocolate foundue with pound cake and bananas and strawberries for each DParent and DChild not hearing the best of news today. Warmest hugs to @Mysonsdad @âQueenâs Momâ @frenchtoastlover
Congrats to all for the good news and Iâm sorry for the rejections that have come as well. So many posts to catch up on and too many to list separately.
Did Notre Dame release their acceptances for all do you know @Mysonsdad ? My daughters friend is waiting her her letter.
