Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

Yes, it’s very unclear how being the kid of a professor affects things. It certainly used to be a clear advantage at all of “these” schools, but now apparently some places deny it. And there are even rumors that schools dislike those non-paying or less-paying customers, though I’ve never seen any proof either way!

@kittymom1102 is your new avatar meaningful?!

@fretfulmother I promised my S that I will be equally supportive of his two top choices. I was hoping for an avatar with both school logos, however, couldn’t find one. So, one day I’ll be pulling for Stanford and the other day pulling for MIT. Both sides will get equal love from me

It’ll be a pain switching avatars every day, but I’ll do it until D day

@fretfulmother So, the answer to your question is yes and no, meaningful in a way but no meaningful in what matters. The decision won’t be mine!

I love this idea to have avatar to reflect top choices. How about tomorrow to be “support your child’s top choices” avatar day?

I’m in! Maybe we can create avatars with top choices since most kids have more than one option at this point. We should start celebrating the end of the journey

This is the best I could do :frowning: No the best but something is something

@kittymom1102 look what my DD put together for me. She said size matters

@ReminiscingDad: I don’t know what it means that your request for financials came snail mail, but I do know from a student in my area that the Ivy who said yes (not in EA) had requested (through email) more information on financials though everything had been submitted as requested per FAF/CSS(?). When the next two requests for financials arrived, one from an Ivy and the other from a highly selective, the parents took it as a sign that things are leaning toward “yes,” based on the outcome of the first Ivy. Guess it will all be known in a bit.

@Ballerina016 :Is that a “Mom” added in that avatar?

@Ballerina016 OMG, I LOVE IT ! ! ! ! Hands down B.E.S.T Avatar ever <:-P <:-P <:-P <:-P

Yes @Waiting2exhale . I guess you are looking on your phone?

Nope, an old laptop.

@Ballerina016 Your avatar is putting us to shame, look at that ! ! It’s beautiful AND IMPRESSIVE :D/

My NCAA bracket is completely shot. How can the two teams supposed to meet in finals lose in round of 8?

Happy Easter to all my Christian friends and Happy Sunday to all my other friends. Enjoy the calm before the storm.

Happy Easter to you as well @carolinamom2boys!

@Waiting2exhale thank you for sharing your neighbor’s story, it’s similar to our case. I’ll confirm the correlation on March 31st and let you all know…

@ReminiscingDad I am a believer that personal contact from the financial aid office(not a generic notice) looking for more info is a good sign. Each of my kids had a college contact them looking for more info, and in both cases they were admitted. I find it hard to believe that a school like U Chicago with a less than ten percent acceptance rate would make up financial aid packages for the other 92 percent of kids denied/waitlisted. I know many people disagree with me, and I certainly wouldn’t want to get your hopes up, but I did want to share our experience.

Happy Easter!

May everyone’s baskets have nice fat financial aid notices in it.
