Parents of the HS Class of 2016 (Part 1)

Well, I am no Adonis, but I do have a massage therapy certificate, so I will happily offer massages to anyone who needs one! Since IRL that isn’t possible, and any of you live near a mall where those massage bars are located, I highly recommend a nice 20-30 minute chair massage. They’re not as good as the real thing, but I can attest to their ability to relieve the stress at least for a little while. Hmm. Tomorrow is my day off. I sense a trip to the mall…

Thanks @sseamom, we are definitely planning winter trips!

Hmm, I think “mitfreude” was probably the more apt word to use… (My German is very limited, and what little I know rests on very shaky memory of my 2 years in college, many, many years ago!)

Spring Break was this week, and needless to say I fell behind here. I will say “what @EastGrad said.”

Daughter was waitlisted or rejected to the rest of her schools - Vandy®, Rice(w), Davidson(w) and Notre Dame®.

@EastGrad , I had to look up “backpfeigfengesicht”. lol Great word! This is bringing back why I love the German language - no need for lengthy sentences when it can be all be expressed in one (huge) word!

Sorry to hear that @Sophmore1 Hugs. Does she have choices she is happy about?

So sorry for your daughter @Sophmore1 . Now she can start weighing all of her other great choices.

@Sophmore1 I’m sorry about the rejections. It seems pretty harsh to have to deal with them all so close together, but then maybe it’s also just better to know and move on. Is she close to deciding at this point?

I want to play…Fahrvergnügen? (I am in no way indicating that I have 4 years of German or that I was a German exchange student in HS, right?) If I could remember anything beyond a basic sentence in any language that I have learned is would be a miracle!

@Sophmore1 - I am sorry that the final decisions were disappointing. But how exciting that the way to a decision is now ready to be explored!

D16, who took neither AP Chem or AP Biology in HS, came home today with an AP review guide for each that she picked up at the half-price bookstore. “I should probably review this stuff before school starts in the fall”. Mom breathes a sigh of relief.

Welcome @Momeila and @esteemom !

Very sorry to hear about the final round of decisions. @Sophmore1

Hugs for DD @Sophmore1 . Hopefully one of the other options will be the best choice!

Hugs to you and your D, @Sophmore1 . So many great kids getting disappointing news lately-- but I’m sure it will work out soon and some school will be lucky to have her.

@Sophmore1 Darn it. Their loss. Sorry for the disappointment. Chocolate fondue with strawberries and bananas, a personal fav. I like the cheese and bread too!

So, I guess her list is taking shape at this point. Let’s not forget about the successes.

@Sophmore1, sorry about the bad news! Hope you had a good spring break despite that!

Two shout outs in a week from @EastGrad?!? I feel like a superstar! Thank you for your kind words!!

Hope your mom is ok @crowlady. My mom is turning 75 next week and still works full time. Luckily, she is only a 10 minute drive away from me.

I did spelling bees – won our school twice but never made it out of county. I probably should have studied. :bz

My son’s friend who is not doing well in his lotteries competed in nationals twice – but didn’t mention that in his applications because it was middle school. What would you all have done?

@sseamom, my wife is a massage therapist. I have to make appointments like everyone else, though.
