Congratulations @rienrah
Congrats @rienrah!
@rienrah S11 picked Beloitā¦he loved it!!! Your DS will thrive there! Beloit is a hidden gem in my opinion!
Itās worth a lot around here @rienrah where happy parents and kids who love their college choice is always worth celebrating! Congrats!
Well said, @palm715 .
@4kids2graduate waving at you over the HYPM discussion-I hear you! We made a list of pros and cons, and had random discussions mostly on our drives to and from school. It became clear that D had some favorites even before all the offers were in. The list had things that were critical to any option-cost, program, size, etc. The talks were more about feel and perceptions. We were in the parking lot of our favorite thrift store one day when D had gotten a large merit award from a top contender. I asked her if she had to pick that day where she would go if money wasnāt an issue. She named her favorite. When the merit came in making that affordable soon after that, we were done.
In all honesty, if your students have chosen well and youāve run the numbers and X number of choices work for your family, than there are no bad options. At some point you have to trust your gut with any important decision, and thatās really what anyone is doing in this case.
@4kids2graduate Hoping the Clarity Fairy drops by and sprinkles you with fairy dust to make the perfect choice become crystal clear. Congrats to your son @rienrah . Every choice takes time, effort and thought for the family and child involved. A great cause for celebration on this thread no matter the choice. Thatās what has made this thread so helpful and cohesive in the past and hopefully continue to be in the future .
Congratulations to @rienrah and any others that have recently made decisions!
It is barely after 6am here and DS has already left for an AP exam study session. I guess senioritis has not yet completely settled in.
Congratulations @rienrah !
Congratulations on a decision @rienrah
Congrats @rienrah!!
@carolinamom2boys Thank youā¦I love the idea of the Clarity Fairyā¦does she also do massages after decisions are made?
In anticipation of a decision being on the not too distant horizon, and due to the fact I am technologically challengedā¦can someone instruct me on how to change my avatar if I end up wanting to do the college logo thing?
@4kids2graduate Click on your name at the top of the page. Then hit the orange Preferences button in the middle of the page. The second item in the left side bar is Change My Picture. Then youāll see a button to choose a picture from your desktop. Finally, hit Upload. You can change the way the image is centered on the thumbnail, too, if you need to.
Step one post-decision: trying to figure out how to decline the offers at other schools, starting with the ones that offered merit scholarships. Step two: joining school-specific parents group on FB (thereās a small private group but they havenāt accepted me yet ā it is unlikely to be as awesome as the big RIT parents group I joined for S14). Step three: un-favoriting all the CC threads for schools my S didnāt choose. Am I ready for that one yet?
Lol @crowlady! I admit to still occasionally checking some of the CC threads for the schools not chosen. I did unbookmark them however.
@4kids2graduate, I think I still have that quarterā¦
For my S it came down to the feel and vibe of his last three or four contenders.
The school he thought heād like the least he wound up choosing (happily) to attend which included him giving up the one extra-curricular activity that all along heād said was non-negotiable. But, as it turns out, the other positives won him over (program, honors, financials, liking the environment).
Congrats from me too @rienrah!
@crowlady, can you point me in the direction of that RIT parents group (assuming itās still active). Thanks.
@crowlady thanks for the tutorial on setting a profile pic, Iāve been on here for six years and never figured it out!
Iād happily put 100 dollars under Sās pillow if the Clarity fairy wants to visit tonight.
@dbjs70 Iāll send it to you by PM. It started as a public group for Class of 2018 and was actively monitored by RIT staff. We got so big and active (and there were also many spin-off groups for dorms and regions) that RIT realized they couldnāt keep up and made it private and asked us to moderate ourselves. They created a single public family page for announcements and unfortunately thereās very little discussion there: https://www.facebook.com/RITparents/?fref=ts
