When mad, yeah. I lived in Chicago for 10 years and upon moving back realized how BAD my cursing was. I swear it was a dialect. It’s better. Light years better. But it happens. Same for my H. S17 curses a bit more than I’d like though rarely in front of anyone that isn’t a teen peer or me. He is aware he curses too much though. S19…never. S11 and D14…pretty much never.
I get the feeling that @Dolemite is spot on – with the plethora of Chicago’s EA/ED programs, there won’t be a snowball’s chance of getting in RD, much less of getting merit there.
QOTD - The streets of New York provided me with a useful vocabulary…although nobody can hurl an insult like the Bard!
QOTD: What the $%*& is wrong with swearing once in a while? I don’t usually swear, but when I do it’s usually just an F bomb. I don’t have a big swear repertoire.
My kids don’t swear much. My wife usually only swears at me, lol. :))
@vandyeyes yes! Congrats, you should feel proud and relieved.
@vandyeyes – yay!!! huge congrats – must feel great – happy for you!
QOTD - not “allowed” but it sometimes happens or poorly hidden substitutes! DH & I - only really curse much by accident in front of the kids - spontaneous reaction or a super frustration about something… Prefer they use more appropriate words to express themselves.
And congrats to @vandyeyes on EDII at Chicago. What a great school!
QOTD: minimal swearing in our house - neither daughter uses salty language. I’ll let loose the occasional expletive if I hurt myself. My husband confines his swearing to when he’s in traffic.
Ok, it’s official! D is home now and found out she’s been accepted to her first choice: NYU! She has wanted to go to college in the city since she was 10 years old. We visit NYC often and she loves it.
However, THAT city will have to wait! She’ll be spending her first year in Paris! I took her on a two week trip to Europe a couple of years ago and she fell in love with Paris and has been wanting to live there ever since; well now she has her wish and I think she’s in shock, lol.
@vandyeyes , congratulations!! U Chicago sent D (EA admit) swags two times… One for scarf, and one for shirt, and hat and some other misc stuff. Enjoy what your future tuitions allow you to enjoy now!! Have your S the group chat…there are always interesting things going on. We haven’t done the deposit or anything yet. D will remain free agent until Apr 30th.
@srk2017 yes, indeed my S did apply to a single BS/MD program (Case Western’s) and has been offered an interview. He will be reaching out to all his schools and programs with pending applications in the very near future to release any and all. Tomorrow he will reach out to his college counselor to direct him how best to accomplish this. Good luck to your accomplished S in his quests to land.
