@WhatSally what people say on here matters, anonymous or not. When a 3 post newbie blows into town and makes some proclamations we all take it with a huge grain of salt.
But when a 2000+ poster says something that can really affect other kids that is very different than anything we’ve heard before, it is not unwarranted to ask for some clarification.
And really, we are the woo-hoo crew around here most of the time, so it’s not about not celebrating their good fortune. It’s about connecting the dots that don’t appear, to most rational people, to even be on the same page.
Son got into Bentley, sort of good, except son has almost no interest in the school anymore.
Got waitlisted at Babson, bummer, he really liked it there and I though he had a 50/50 chance. They just have such a small incoming class it’s hard for them to take too many local kids. 250 young men per class. About 75-100 of those 250 are recruited athletes, so it’s a tough admit for a lot of kids. Oh well. son wasn’t overly upset about it, but that was near the top of the list for him. I didn’t think it was a perfect fit for him, but it met a lot his requirements.
One more to go tomorrow and then he will have to start formulating a plan.
I hadn’t thought about spring break or snow. Turns out they are on spring break this week, but the calendar says “No classes, RIT open.” But they may well not be open due to snow. I guess I’ll follow up next Wednesday or Thursday.
@paveyourpath, no, we aren’t eligible for any FA and haven’t had any major changes. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to ask if admissions comes back negative.
Didn’t expect this. Dd was just accepted to Fordham with a full tuition scholarship. She was accepted earlier to URochester with a drop in the bucket scholarship.
S accepted to Virginia Tech engineering! Financials to be released in a few days.
Wow, @Mom2aphysicsgeek - congratulations on Fordham with big MAC (and URochester with little MAC )
@RightCoaster Congratulations on Bentley and sorry about Babson waitlist (a.k.a. limbo). Maybe take another tour of Bentley and it will remind him of what he liked before. If Babson is still his top choice he could accept the waitlist then separately notify them he would accept a spring admit option.
Congrats on all of today’s acceptances and MAC news. Sorry about the waitlists.
D was also accepted at Johns Hopkins today. Two more weeks until all decisions are in and April plans can be made. D also got a great 3rd quarter report card today. Five more weeks of school and she is done. Seems like yesterday that she started school.
Congrats all!!! Clearly Babson and U Rochester are stupid.
D17 was just denied from Fordham. She wasn’t thinking she was probably going to end up in New York anymore, but that was her favorite school she visited, so that stung a little. Onward and upward. The parental pick and hands down favorite of Cal Poly SLO is moving up the likely list. My husband couldn’t be more thrilled, we just need to get D17 on board.
D accepted at Johns Hopkins today with the Bloomberg Scholarship making it even cheaper than Georgetown! She is going to have to make a tough decision soon.
What do you think about this? D got $45k in FA from Roanoke but just $5800 from JMU. Is that the difference between private & Public? Would be interested in opinions, this whole aid thing befuddles me.
