So many bittersweet moments @suzy100 , I’m glad the concert was a success and sending ALL the good vibes on EA decisions!
Thank you @DavidPuddy for trying to make this “fun” and remember why we want our kids to do well, for all of the above!! You all are so supportive; it’s wonderful!!!

@bearcatfan Greatly exaggerated her ECs? CEO of 2 non profits while in high school. Won major national awards, TV/print appearances (MTV, People magazine). Said she raised over half a million dollars in less than 3 years and gathered thousands of pounds of food to feed the hungry. Turns out she did not register her nonprofits with the state, didn’t raise nearly what she claimed or at least there is no public record of those great amounts. Questionable things on the resume . That’s it in a nutshell. Not sure colleges can do anything about kids that embellish the truth. Duke didn’t know or didn’t care.
Thanks, @greentea3
Heard through the high school grapevine and twitter that a senior committed to play football for Columbia University - the one in New York, lol. He’s a good player for the area, but never struck me as excelling in academics. Apparently he was suspended for a week for something this year (rumor is academic dishonesty, but I don’t know).
So yeah. I hope he makes it.
Is there a listing of EA decision dates somewhere?
@ppst, not that I’m aware of. Some schools (like the one my D is waiting on) don’t even release firm dates, but rather say “mid-December.”
@ppst - there’s a post on IvyWise (google IvyWise Early decision dates) that includes some of the confirmed dates/times of some colleges (certainly not all), otherwise it says “mid-December”
2018/2022mom (not sure why not tagging - I think that’s your username) - I PRAY my daughter will inject some FUN in her life in coming months/this summer/in college. Girlfriend has been nose to grindstone for her entire h.s. career, and needs to let loose a bit. (Though not that loose…)
I agree @MomOutWest. My DD told me, “Mom, the only time I’ll be truly free and have lots of fun is after AP exams and before college!” I told her to make time for a little fun when she gets to college. Work hard and earn it, but don’t do anything stupid. Thank you, for EA and ED site too!!
@ppst the College Kickstart blog has that information- not sure if I can link a blog so if this doesn’t work you’ll need to google it: https://www.college-kickstart.com/blog/item/class-of-2022-early-notification-dates
Now there is some confusion as to whether the ED decision will come Thursday or Friday. As much as it wold be nice to hear a day early and put people our of their waiting misery, we have plans Thursday night, and had it all planned out for dad to be home on Friday afternoon when she opens the portal. Oh well. “The best laid plans…”
Ooooh. that list on college-kickstart is much better - thanks for posting @lr4550
Will start checking college-kickstart and will stop portalling until Friday!!! Thank you, @lr4550!!
YIKES! Don’t remind me that this will be S’s last high school Christmas chorus concert…
It’s the year of lasts. But we are also going to have a year of firsts soon. :x
@bearcatfan - yeah. First birthday away from home. First day of school picture we won’t be there for… #glasshalfempty
Kickstart doesn’t have info for Trinity U. [-(
We are waiting on pins and needles over here!
@ShrimpBurrito - They didn’t tell you when the notification day would be?
@amominaz Officially it is “by Dec 15.” Last year they came out early, Dec 9/10. I was just hoping for some insider info.
Whether the glass is half empty or full, it is what it is. The half empty approach is just a path to being miserable. And remember yesterday a common word for what everyone wanted for their kids tied into happiness on some level. You want that for yourselves, right? And the alternative to your kid going off to college (or otherwise launching) and the list of lasts/firsts that come with it is having them live in the basement forever. That’s a glass approaching being empty in my book.
